I think the reason for Holt and Lambert's late progress is due to their style. If players like Wells lose their pace, they lose their biggest asset. Whilst players who don't rely on pace adapt their game in accordance with their experience.
Sounds a lot like Le Fondre....from Rotherham to Reading...I know he played half a season for them in the Championship but 5 months later he was in the BPL scoring for fun as a super sub....Wells could do the same for us...minus the few months in the League below us.
They had someone with something to do with Bradford on talk sport the other day (Friday or yesterday I forgot when) and he said there's been no interest from any premiership clubs, all paper talk, but a lot from the championship, and that the asking price is actually £1.5m and not the £3.5m that was being touted by the media.
I would buy him now and loan him to a championship club for the rest of the season. If there wasnt any rules against doing that. Lots of clubs buy players to make a profit off them or to use them in the future.
It'd be fine so long as we weren't stupid enough to play him whilst we found him a loan club. No different to what Man U did with Zaha last season, they only needed dispensation because they were sending him back to Palace.
Well as Man u bought Zaha and then promptly loaned him back to Palace who they bought him off don't think it will be against the rules
The thing that worries me is look at Madden at Yeovil, was brilliant for Yeovil and pretty sure he was top scorer in League One now struggling in the Championship. You look what Elliot did for us, League One to the PL is a huge jump. I agree if we took a risk on him now it may pay off, but when our survival isn't certain i would much rather us look for someone who can do the job now, than in the summer look at players when our financial stability is a bit more certain.
Good value considering the hideous price Palace paid for Dwight Gayle. Who at the time was a relative newcomer to the Championship.
Agree with GLP, scores goals and relatively good value. Buying that right person at a low price and selling high is the way we need to progress. Wells Bridcott There is £3-4m profit quite easily
Meanwhile back to Wells... Skysports Transfer Blog latest: Bradford City confirm interest from a Premier League club in star striker Nahki Wells but not thought to be previously linked Aston Villa or Sunderland. Stoke have entered the market at 12/1. Full market here
buy Rhodes and wells and then loan wells to Blackburn to sweeten the deal..everyone is a happy camper
Buy Wells for £1million. Loan him to Derby for the rest of the season so they can get promoted instead of Leicester and Forest. Then if the worst happens and we go down we'll have a good Championship striker waiting for us and if we stay up we have a potentially good BPL striker next season.
Skysports transfer blog: 10:09 We are hearing that Huddersfield have agreed a fee with Bradford for Nahki Wells and are set for talks with the prolific striker.
