    Hi there

My name's Alan, I'm a 35 year old man living in Highbury, North London, UK, and it's getting towards the end of 2007, so I thought I'd finally join others to share my views, and hopefully make the world a better place - with your help of course!

Well, it's a bit like this really....I was on the internet, and saw the following (I have been allowed to reprint this on condition of the originators anonymity, which I have given) :

"Many of us watched the cup final in Germany a few weeks ago. We all admired the Berlin stadium, which had been beautifully transformed from the original 1936 Olympic stadium.

During the match, it was announced that 80,000 people were seated watching the game. Just imagine, this stadium held about the same amount of human beings that have been murdered in South Africa, since the cup final held in Japan in 2002.

And the way things are going, that’s how many people will be murdered in cold blood again in South Africa, by the time the cup final is held in Cape Town in 2010.

1000`s of innocent South Africans get bruttally [sic] murdered every year. The South African goverment [sic]s ignoring the fact that there is total anarchy in this country

All South Africans, irrespective of race are being affected by violent crimes

The true situation in South Africa embarrasses tourism agencies as much as it should embarrass the South African president. Tourism agencies are in a desperate attempt to derail our exposure of violent crime

South Africa does not experience "acceptable" levels of violent crimes. Armed robberies, attempted murder and murder, rape and child abuse became part of the South African daily routine.

The country, since 2000 registered a shocking annual figure of between 18000 and 25000 murders. Thus to ignore explosive statistics on murder, while luring tourists to visit the country, is immoral. Killers in South Africa do not differentiate between citizens and tourists. They kill to kill!

There exist a culture of disrespect for human life in South Africa.

We call on our National Safety and Security Minister to explain to the international soccer community how he plans to secure their safety in hotels, in taxis, in restaurants and beaches; as these are the places where 20000 people lost their lives each year while waiting for this Minister to "ROLL OUT HIS PLAN".

We call on all our international friends to support the plea of millions of victims in South Africa. Please send an email to the president of South Africa and express your views on the violant murders in South Africa . Mr Mbeki can be contacted on
    [email protected]

Listen to this song, written by a well known South African artist and send this to all your friends - copy paste the following link http://www.andreschwartzprotest.co.za/

Thank you for reading this! peace....."

Now I'm not a football fan in the slightest degree (I live in Highbury and have a deep deep dislike of Arsenal Football Club, but more of that in a later post), but I was really moved to contact the person concerned to find out if there's anything I could do to help. I guess this is just one of those ways.

God, if just a few of us could get onto the South African Government in the same way that saw the end of apartheid, or the struggles to see people living with HIV/AIDS get treatment that will save their lives, I do think it would be worth it.

I hope for his sake, it isn't him. It's Ok to be gay, but I don't like that sort of hypocrisy!

    But if it is him!...?

When he's allowed back, let's hear what he's gotta say for himself.

Yeah I'm interested to know...lets get him back and see what he says. Everything I know of him, everyone else would too because it's been on display for all to see, I don't know anything personal about him via PM's etc
