Surprised no one has really mentioned Marveaux... thought he was brilliant today, some ben arfa esq runs and some cabaye esq passing, was very impressed.

He is certainly starting to show his quality more consistently. NUFC.com reporting he was hobbling at the end, along with Cabaye. Hopefully just tired and nothing to be concerned about with either of them.

When we have a fully fit team, Marveaux should play and Tiote should be dropped. Have Sissoko playing alongside Cabaye and have Marveaux on the right and Benny in the no 10 role or vice versa.

I thought Marveaux played well today. I'd like to see him used more in the home games. He is a luxury but you have to make room for this type of player sometimes.

I see an announcement is expected next week confirming West Ham are to sign Bony for 12m. One thing the last few games have borne out is our need for more talented strike options. I'd rather we went for Bony than Carroll to be honest. Shola had very little impact again today.

Apparently Carr has advised against Bony as he regards him as 'too slow for the premier league'. Don't think we'll be seeing him here.

Went to put a bet on us to win 1-0 with Cisse to score the first goal and there was no betting slips available, what's the use of having a betting stall inside the ground if they don't have any betting slips?

Krul 6- Made a truly remarkable save from Berbatov but his kicking was beyond atrocious today, glad to have him back for his goalkeeping talents but my word Elliot is streets ahead where distribution is concerned.

Simpson 6- Relatively ok defensively apart from not being tight enough to his man (go figure) and his crossing was as ever utterly ineffective.

Taylor 7- Solid game, wasn't hugely tested but was positive about bringing the ball forward and made himself a nuisance from set pieces. Should have done better with a free header on the Fulham goal though.

M'biwa 7- Solid, and really looks like he will turn into a big talent, still a bit shaky but has took to the league well overall.

Gutierrez 8- Man of the match for me, defensively outstanding and looked like the Jonas of old when he was going forward, finally looks like hes back at the top of his game, has been good for quite a few games in succession now.

Marveaux 6- Drifted in and out but looked very dangerous at times, the talent is definitely there he just seems to lack the ability to keep it up consistently.

Sissoko 5- Without commenting on Pardew's lack of tactical nouse and just commenting on the player I would just have to say that he does everything right in terms of effort and determination he does everything right, the problem is he tries to do TOO much, so often in this game he beats 1-2 men and just keeps going instead of making the easy pass to carry on the move, I fear he is stagnating under the guidance of a certain Alan Pardew.

Cabaye 6- Was played too deep the entire game and failed to influence the game throughout because of this, still had a great passing range and made the goal (even though it was meant to be a shot)

Anita 6- Absolutely awful at defensive midfield but as he did the last time looks very promising in the right back position, in DM he looks so out of his depth its untrue and proceeds to hoof the ball forward the second he receives the ball, and is easily brushed aside in while attempting to break up play. Looks a different animal at right back though, hes such a breath of fresh air going forward with his overlapping runs and really busts a gut to stay with his man. 4 for DM and 7 for RB.

Gouffran 6- Largely ineffective today and I feel he is another victim of the Alan Pardew school of negative tactics, spends most of his time far too deep due to the fact that we spend most of games camped in our own half petrified to leave ourselves exposed even for a second, didn't look like he knew what to do in the rare occasions he did break into the final third.

Cisse 7- Benfica was a massively impressive performance from him and although he wasn't as good today he still looked dangerous throughout the game and tried his heart out from the first minute and eventually got his reward, he would flourish and bang them in willy nilly if we just played to his strengths and kept the ball on the deck.

Completely agree with this! When are we next gonna have a realistic chance in Europe. Take it when it comes. Strongest team coupled with electric atmosphere... Maybe, just maybe.

Who gives a **** about the mackems anyway PDC has pretty much said they`re all too fat to play well for 90 mins ( by the sounds of it they managed 45 vs Chelsea). Cue withstanding some early pressure after a tense opening period. Final 10 minutes we then score.

Krul - 8 - 2 great saves, played the ball sensibly at the back with decent distribution. Top effort from Krul.

Simpson - 7 - He did his job ok.

    Mbiwa - 7- Well played.

Saylor - 7.5 - Best English defender in the premier league at this moment in time.

Jonas - 7 - Don't understand where the over the top affection is coming from? He did his job for once... Woo...

Anita - 5 - Did ok, but he's not creative or likely to do much in the middle, and he's not defensively solid enough to play full-back.

    Sissoko - 5 - Pretty cack.

Cabaye - 6 - Another passable performance. I've declined in appreciation for him in the last season, and I think he's comfortably the most overrated player in the squad. He's good, but I don't think he's world class and I can't see how he gets into the French national squad. He's probably not in the top 11 central midfielders in the premier league for me, never-mind top 11 team. Kevin Mirallas, De Guzman, Carrick, Gerrard, Lampard, Ramires, Dembele, Toure, Diame, Arteta, Wilshere etc etc. To me we've lost ground in midfield big time, because with Tiote's malfunctioning and Cabaye only putting in the occasional good performance, we're creating bugger all most weeks, hence the bounce when Sissoko arrived in form.

Marveaux - 9 - Thought he was unreal today. Creative heart of the team. Had that have been Ben Arfa, he'd have got MOTM comfortably.

Cisse - 6 - Most frustrating player in the side.... Just pick ONE, good or bad... Not both. The NHS will have a spate of Cisse-induced heart problems in the next few weeks, I predict.

Gouff - 6.5 - Set up Cisse for a tap in... But alas...

MOTM - Hands down Marv <ok>

    Agree with most except:

    - We have to take the risk for silverware. Put in our strongest squad in Europa. This isn't even necessary to discuss, Pardew is still going to do so regardless. We have a genuine chance.
    - I thought Gouf played well, not sure why you guys are so down on him. He was our most dangerous threat to score in the first half, and was tireless tracking back, eventually got gassed and replaced by Shola

Agree that Marveaux was magnificent today everything we created more or less came from him

Also Campbell played badly in his ten minute cameo, but we all know he's just 18 and will learn. It's very good experience for him

Agree with most but sorry Marveaux doesn't get 9 from me. Good to see the lad getting balls past the first man at corners.
    Jonas was my MOTM.
Taylor nearly gave me a heart attack when he went to the floor to head the ball back to Timmy.

Booo G, can't remember disagreeing with you before, but 7 for Jonas is being a bit mean. He played his best game for us for quite a while and looked good throughout.

Fulham looking a bit down and out.

The young stewardess in the pic seems to be enjoying things too.

Wor Tim doing his physio badge in the background there.

Great moment. She has every right to look pleased. The noise was unbelieveable.

That long string of misery Hangeland didn't look too happy throughout the game.

Duff didn't give us a wave either.
