What is it with all these people thinking anyone gives a **** cos they are leaving, what do you mean its time to leave, its a football forum ffs. I mean is it that bigger part of your life that you feel you'll be better off without it. Sorry guys but I find these posts nauseating if you don't want to post any more or share your thoughts about our club then just slip away quietly not go looking for a big farewell or a ****ing heros wave goodbye. Just cos a few old boys have left you feel its time for you to go, you didn't even know them. Pathetic

totally agree - have seen many of these type of fairwells and thought - it's the internet!!

Harsh I know, but anyone who can't spell 'farewell' really needs to go back to school before joining another forum.

Fair enough Cannock. There have been a lot of negative responses on this, a few of which have been a bit OTT. Best of luck to Maida, where ever he ends up.

All I would say though is that what irks people about this kind of thing is that there’s really no need to “say goodbye” on something so casual and impersonal as an internet forum. So for that reason, rightly or wrongly, starting a thread to “just say goodbye” comes across as self serving and attention seeking. The thread, however well intentioned, has nothing to do with QPR or even football in general, and as mentioned by a previous poster, there is no minimum commitment or certain amount of posts required in order to retain your log-in, so there’s just no need for it.

Judging by the time of the posting it could well be Stella related. I usually spout off some regrettable nonsense when I've been on the juice. If that's not the case then it's a bit weird. MVR was always a good poster. He certainly didn't take no ****e off other wum fans who dared come on here. Good luck mate.

I've not been posting here very long, but "its just a Forum" isn't it? Its not life, or death, or family, just somewhere to comment, discuss, argue a subject that we all care about. I also occasionally post on other message boards as well, is there something wrong with that?

At least thats what I think. Someone tell me if I'm wrong.

Anyway onwards and upwards, I don't care who I share a forum with, as long as the banter and discussion is in a postive frame without too much bitching and moaning. Each to his own I guess:emoticon-0118-yawn:

I would be happy to see formal farewell threads from those going for significant reasons such as no Internet access as about to start 15 year sentence in the Scrubs; off on a space mission; going undercover in North Korea for an unspecified period; seeking the yeti in the Himalayas for 6 months; training to be a Trappist monk and so on.

its been a good 6 or so months but I feel it is time I moved on, some of the old boys have left so I feel its probably time I do the same.
Many will probably be glad to see the back of me and if you think that then f*** you! <monster>

anyway, thanks for the good times and all the banter.

peace <rose>

MVR

Good luck mate, with whatever you're on your way to do

Not sure. Its chuffin' chilly here in the Steel City so maybe it justifies a hot roast pork cob with stuffing, apple sauce and a side of crackling. A pint of Deuchars wouldn't go amiss either come to think of it. Maybe a medicinal Jamesons too....

Got to take it easy as long drive to Edinburgh tomorrow followed by my annual consumption of my body weight in Guinness

You are right - it is self serving and attention seeking and unnecessary and as someone has pointed out he can't even spell farewell, but I just thought the 20 or so vociferous responses castigating him for saying goodbye were equally unnecessary and just served to keep the thread alive longer - oh **** now I’m doing it as well!

I was thinking jealously of one of WB's lunches - I've got yesterday's corned beef sandwich with the edges turned up.

Try spicing it up with some caramelised red onion marmalade? Where theres a will, and there is a f*****g will, theres a way.

Maybe time for a sandwich poll...

Good luck MVR <ok>
i guess he was just letting us know that he is not posting anyone and it saves people asking "what's happened to..."?

The origin of the word 'sandwich' for an item of food was named after John Montagu who was the 4th Earl of Sandwich.

It is said that in approx.1762, he asked for meat to be served between slices of bread, to avoid interrupting a gambling game. This story may have been rumour or adverse propoganda, put about by his rivals.

But alas I digress somewhat. I'm chomping on a New York Deli style today, Pastrami beef, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, gherkin & mustard on rye bread. Superb!

Good luck MVR <ok>

Well said. It's a bit harsh, the majority of what's been said. I don't know that a forum/this forum is impersonal. There are many personalities on here. I, and I imagine others, look out for certain posters' comments, because their views, thoughts and opinions are well regarded. That brings a personal element into thing, doesn't it?

I do agree however, that leaving a forum is a strange thing to do. We ain't actually here! Just stop logging in/on. Nought wrong though with saying goodbye and to knock someone for their spelling - come on, who gives a fukc?
