THIS IS FOR PEADAR,
I thought you might be interested. I've just read a piece on the internet, Say's that once a year Glentoran play a one off game v Linfield mate?

Is this a bit like the Ranger's v Celtic games or more like WW3 Peadar? I only ask because it say's quote " There is and always has been, an intense rivalry between the two teams. HOW intense would that be then?

I would be interested to know if you have even seen Glentoran play? And, it's fantastic for me, as I'm finding out more and more info about my Great Grandfather.

Maybe, I have Glentoran as my 2nd team from now on. After Stoke, and Newcastle Utd.

No problem Norfolk have a good one.
Yep, My missus is happy enough with her card and my eldest is celebrating a b/day too! Might have a few jars later as I'm off work until Wednesday night.

Well, Glens are a Northern Irish team, so I've never actually seen them (there is the Setanta Cup, which is a cross-border competition, but my club Bray never qualify). I would actually like to see an all-Ireland league launched as sort of a big occasion, try and push both leagues forwards.

Their Linfield game isn't a one-off game like the Charity shield or something, but they are the two biggest clubs in Belfast (and by extension Northern Ireland), and the IFA always arrange fixtures so the derby between them at Windsor Park happens on Stephens' Day. It gets about double or triple the average attendance. Both clubs are from Unionist areas, so it wouldn't be proper Rangers-Celtic stuff, but I think there is a fairly vicious rivalry, and sometimes crowd trouble. Insofar as you can actually have crowd trouble with an attendance of 5,000 anyway! You'd probably get more trouble at matches between Linfield (the big protestant club), and either Cliftonville or Donegal Celtic (both from more catholic areas).

One thing I do know about Glentoran, they're not short of style:
