My old school mates would have a field day with that sentence, they wouldn't know where to begin. I honestly believe their heads would explode just trying to work it out.

I only ask because it's what I lecture in. I do oppose to your notion that language is boring though! You studying any Raymond Chandler?

I hate when people do that. It really pisses me of <whistle>

For those who are annoyed at the bastardisation of the English language, i saw this a while ago on that very topic and found it quite amusing.

Well, it's mostly just about America but some is about language...

Ahh nice one. A lecturer at 26 eh? Not quite sure if any of my lecturers are anywhere near as young as you <laugh> Ha, I do apologise! I've only ever studied a bit of it at A Level and I can't remember too much about it apart from not really enjoying it. I imagine there's different kinds to it though!

Not studied any Raymond Chandler I'm afraid. Can't say I've actually read any of his stuff either, but certainly heard of him! Private detective based stories, if I'm correct?

You are indeed correct. I get the age thing quite a lot, I came straight through from my degree to my masters and into my teaching qualification. I'm just lucky that the stress of the job has aged me about 15 years so students don't give me too much grief unless they find out my age.

When people just say somebody's opinion is just wrong.

I find it completely disrespectful because as long as the person is not twisting facts then it's just as big an opinion as anyone else's opinion.

Well that's your opinion, and it's just wrong.

That's what I was considering doing to be honest, I like the idea of going straight into lecturing. Depends how my life plans out though I suppose! We shall see. And I can imagine <laugh> You bought the whole tweed suit outfit just to complete the lecturer look? That's what I'd do <laugh>

Are you sure you're only 15, you've been around the forum a while now and I've often thought you're pretty sensible for one so young. <ok>

Oh definitely. I wear a lot of corduroy and tweed, carry an apple in one hand and a skull in the other. I also like wearing scarves indoors.

Haha <laugh> I'd honestly go with the corduroy and tweed look. I'd do it now if people wouldn't look at me so weirdly.

To be fair though, I had a lecturer last year who was mad as a hatter (constantly went on about the times he met Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan...) who came in every day in winter wearing a massive knitted Tintin jumper, so the tweed theory doesn't aways apply... <laugh>

Did you play Doctor Who for several years in the mid-70's and early-80's?

I've a feeling a fair few have not noticed his age, he's treated like one of the lads on here and he certainly gives a good account of himself.
