Utterly confused here, you say we were lucky against Barca then say this? Talk about suiting yourself <laugh>

The luck he might have been talking about was the best player in the World missing a penalty against you and them hitting the post at least 3 other times during the tie. To be honest I really don't care that much about it anymore and I doubt TMT does so there's really no point bringing up your own bitterness about another time you hated being called lucky. I think the main thing that was levelled at you was not luck though it was that you were boring anti-footall anyway.

Ahh the penalty that should not have been? I am not bitter in any shape or form, I was merely correcting a false statement that we were lucky to win last night.

Your prerogative. Anyway, don't you think this has been done a millions times over?

Thor wasn't talking about Bayern or Barca or Wigan, it was about us being lucky yesterday which was true for one goal. Thor said we were 'lucky' to get two pens in two games, which I dismissed as utter bollocks as a foul is a foul. He also said that Cahill's goal was lucky because their keeper was poor, try looking at Cech for Guthrie's goal.

We deserved to win, outfought them in every department and probably would have scored anyway had Torres' goal been classed as offside.

As i said in my original Posting, I didn't see last night's game. So, I'm not going to comment on that one.

All right, it wasn't bitter to bring up your lingering annoyance about being called lucky against Barca <whistle> Unless I've missed something and you weren't the first to bring it up, I gave up trying to look back over all of you and TMT's argument last night. It was a clear penalty too.

If I might add, and for what it's worth, I'm also sorry for Drogs.

Drogs,I've posted that your good luck vastly outweighs your bad. I don't understand your confusion. Possession stats don't come into this,I'm saying you were lucky against Barca and Bayern and many other times last season with spawny non goals given etc etc. I do not see your confusion,I have not contradicted myself. Anyway I hope you get thrashed against Newcastle and there on after.

Lucky is a rather unspecific word. If someone runs into the box and is hacked over while attempting to shoot then clearly there is no luck involved in getting the penalty. If an attacker is in the box, but well marked and a defender has a rush of blood and fouls him, then that is a bit lucky.

Similarly if the opposition goalkeeper makes a howler which he is unlikely to repeat more than once or twice a season then you've been lucky that it happened against you. If your goalkeeper makes a howler then you are lucky if it hapens in a match when it doessn't affect the result.

Despite what people say, luck does not average out, it causes a distribution of results - I reckon there is probably about a ten point difference between the luckiest and unluckiest club at the end of the season which is well big enough to change the outcome between closely matched sides. Luck is all part of the game. Refereeing errors are similar but partly avoidable.

Just in case anyone's wondering about the offside decision, which I'm sure nobody will argue about, here it is:

Not sure how that one was missed, to be honest.
The rule's often very hard to enforce nowdays, but that's just a glaring error, in my opinion.

Luck tends to even itself out over time. I doubt the Chavs will have the same degree of luck this season, certainly not in Europe.

Domestically, as much as it hurts me to say it, they probably do have the third best team in the EPL. However, they do not, in my opinion, have a top three manager. Last season, Frankie-boy and John "iron my hood, bitch!" Terry ran the show, telling their mate-manager what to do and who to pick, and it worked for RDM in Europe (essentially, a cup competition), but not in the EPL. It was luck that was on Frank/Terry/RDM's side in Europe, but that luck evened itself out in the EPL. This season, I think they will again struggle to find the consistency for a top three finish, and they will have no luck in the CL.

It's natural instinct to remember the bad over the good.

I don't know how anyone that watched our two games v United last season can say our good luck always outweighed our bad.

Spurs fans like to talk about the luck we've had against them in recent games but quick to distance themselves from luck they've had against us.

"Luck" is anything that is out of your control or something that could not be repeated if done a million times.

No, Spurs fans mention the large number of refereeing decisions that you've benefited from in recent games between the two sides.
The reason for that? Because there's been loads.

I can remember you being gifted two goals that didn't cross the line against the same opposition over the course of two seasons, for example.
I can't remember us ever being given one of those against anyone.
I'm perfectly happy to be corrected on that, though.

I said Chelsea were lucky and they were with the Toress goal.

Nothing wrong with you saying it how it is Thor....it is not just 1 match...it is many incidents....plus I have not really come across any graceful Chelsea fans...just patronising ones...with their board being run like a dictatorship and all cliquey with the team one supports being used as the determining factor in deciding who is wrong or right.

As for last night...Reading got what they deserved.

I don't understand how a team who is not confident enough to try and go 3-1 up whilst leading 2-1, think that they can level up once 3-2 down...shame on them for parking the bus and getting a new one ripped.

I would like to say sorry to my fellow Spurs supporters for my earlier tirades against Drogs,it lowered the tone of a good site with normally excellent football debate. Their luck annoyed me intensely last season and did so last night. However I am a sportsman and have forgotten the incident and know that teams need luck in every campaign as well as skill. I will not continue in that vein to Chelsea supporters who come onto our board. Again my apologies. Thank you.

You're fkn kidding me right, HIAG you reading this? SPurf Spurlock and co

I think the debates are excellent on this forum as a whole....it is only when people are on wind ups that certain people get shot down...just look through the articles and you will see what I mean...and disagreeing with one another does not mean one is wumming.

You forgot me, BBF! <laugh>
Considering your low opinion of everyone on here, I have no idea why you keep returning.
Feel free to do so though, as long as you contribute something meaningful. <ok>

PNP,if he had contributed something meaningful I would have heard of him. My apology was to Spurs supporters and nobody else. I'm over this now,my rant is done.
