Banterman, "learn your history", Liverpool's involvement in 2 of sports worst moments made football grounds in britain and europe safe for us today. It could have been man u in Heysel, maybe not, I am informed you were not a good team during those years.
Muppet both Utd and Liverpool fans have chequered pasts at times. http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/dates/stories/may/29/newsid_2733000/2733979.stm http://www.sportinglife.com/footbal...SOCCER_Millwall_Trouble.html&TEAMHD=liverpool http://www.bbc.co.uk/liverpool/content/articles/2007/06/04/lfc_fans_behaviour_feature.shtml http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...objectid=19180736&siteid=50061-name_page.html
As the article I I linked to says, Brit fans at the time had a terrible reputation, as much for England fans abroad as the domestic Casual problem and Liverpool were hardly at the forefront of that. Millwall, Chelsea, Hibs and Rangers seemed at the time to be the most prominent in the Casual culture. We have our share of ignorance - the singers of the Munich song - and clearly from the evidence here Utd have an ignorance problem, too, so twisted it'll register under different user names just to feel a little better about its miserable existence.
As I said both sets fans are not saints and indeed you are right to mention that other British clubs have to share their responsibility for some of the disgraceful scenes we all witnessed over the years. Lets get the thread back on track with more TV listings!
Why just mention the minority of Liverpool fans that sing the ''Munich songs''.I'm not condoning it in ground taunting. But Man United fans have their own vile songs ''The we did it without killling anyone'' chant being one of a few.Who remembers the ''Who's that dying on the carpet'' chant in reference to Bill Shankly,or the forehead slapping in reference to Hillsborough.?
It's not always a minority - I distinctly remember the official "Spirit of Shankly" supporters group singing it at their end of season party in 2009, and pretty much the entire room joined in. But like you say, United fans aren't blameless either - who knows what goes on at end of season parties that aren't videoed. I think the Utd - Liverpool rivalry tends to bring out the worst in both sets of supporters.
Swarbs I agree with that. In the last decade,From the Man United perspective, there is two people that have created the animosity. They are Alex Ferguson and Gary Neville. Fans buy into that. When they see their manager and one of their senior players taunting clubs in the way they do,they tend to go too far.It has to go back to harmless mickey taking.Like in 1977 when Liverpool fans taunted Tommy Doc about his affair with the physios wife, and United fans continually poked fun at Sammy Lee for bein horizontally challenged ie fat.You remember the song ''He's fat he's round he bounces along the ground Sammy Lee Sammy Lee''.Theres nothing wrong with that.Liverpool had songs to the same tune about some of their own players and Peter Reid. This is the Peter Reid version ''He's fat he's ****,he's never ****ing fit,Peter Reid,Peter Reid.''.Again theres nothing wrong with it.
I'm sorry mate but that's a bollox argument. The rivalry between Utd and Liverpool goes back way before Neville was born! Probably before SAF was born too. A minority of Liverpool fans (along with fans of other clubs) have been singing Munich chants since the 1960s, and I guess the minority of Utd fans started Heysel / Hillsborough chants within months of the disasters. I completely agree with the mickey taking and taunting being fine - that's all part of being supporters and footballers have to learn to deal with it. But some have, and always will, take it too far.
The Muppet Show: A younger generation of Liverpool fans discuss selling Lucas through their XBox headsets. The Real Hustle: The story of Alex Ferguson being hoodwinked into signing Anderson for ã14m. MUTV is running a tribute show to Alex Ferguson, his entire family, all his friends, his pets, his garden, his wine collection and anything he has ever expressed a favourable opinion about. When asked how long this show would run for, the head of programming replied "Until the miserable old **** will speak to us again" LFCTV is running "Gerrard's crew" where Steven Gerrard hires a group of armed robbers and gangsters to protect him from vicious DJs. CFCTV is running "The History of Chelsea FC" in the style of American thriller show "24". Much like 24, the history of CFC is recounted in real time. The show last 12 minutes. Last but not least, MCFCTV is running "The world according to Mike Summerbee". In this ground breaking show, Summerbee insists that City are the best club in the world, no matter what the truth (and possession statistics) may say. He also claims that the world is flat, 2 + 2 = 5, and Alan Ball was a real football manager. Preview below:
LFCTV will also be showing "I can't believe he's not Roy", where Rafa Benitez recounts how he spent ã20 million on the wrong Keane, having not realised Roy Keane had retired five years ago. The show also explores the possibility that he bought Lucas Leiva mistakenly thinking he was Lucas Neill, Ryan Babel thinking he was Ryan Giggs, and Mark Gonzalez after being so confused by his nickname, that he believed he actually was Speedy Gonzalez, the cartoon mouse. áÃÂndale! áÃÂndale! áArriba! áArriba!
Not for the children. LFC TV tonight at 2300 hrs to host special Sexerta show with special hosts from the BBC's Top Gear. The one off show will show the Stig teaching Stan Collymore how to speed away from the police when they raid his favourite dogging spots.

Swarbs, that's how to wum with wit. I particularly chuckled at "the history of CFC is recounted in real time" and "I can't believe he's not Roy."
Swarbs. I agree that the minority take it too far.I also don't condone the actions of Liverpool fans who thrashed facilities at Old Trafford in 2006 and the ones that threw rocks at the ambulance that carried Alan Smith to hospital. Okay I retract my statement that it was started by Ferguson and Neville, but both have made numerous comments that made the situation extremely bad. However harmless piss-taking on both sides is acceptable,as long as a line is not overstepped.
You are being a bit fair on Ferguson paying ã14 million on Anderson. He didn't.The idiot did more than that,He spent ã20 million on Anderson.
