The 70's for me - The Cars, Frampton and Joel.
Billy Joel is in Hyde Park next year. I’m seeing Springsteen there the day later so can’t justify doing the whole weekend there. My auntie (only 6 years older than me) is though. But she is seeing Springsteen on the Thursday then Billy Joel the Friday. Wouldn’t surprise me if she gets Springsteen tickets for Saturday as well to be with us lot.

I have just put a new music cabinet together to store/display all of my ol' 8 tracks/ singles/vinyls and cd's, I have rediscovered some great old Country and Western, Freddie Fender, Johny Cash and Willie Nelson, if you like country these are good listening.

Talking music I like to listen to Ken Bruce on radio 2, they have a quiz on there called popmaster, I got 4 right on there the other day, I thought I was doing quite well but the 2 contestants on there scored 27 and 31, put me in my place.

What are people listening to at the moment?

For some reason I’ve gone back to listening to Old Genesis (Gabriel and first few years Collins era) and Marrillion.
Wasn’t keen the first time around, have recently bought a genesis compilation album, Still not keen on Gabriel era, prefer Collins. I did once see them live at Milton Keynes Bowl, it was after Gabriel had left, he did a surprise guest appearance, so they played a lot of his era stuff, god it was boring, the crowd I went with were Genesis nuts, they loved it.

Haven’t been to a gig for years, I refuse to pay the inflated prices these days.

Also recently started listening to Nickelback, which I haven’t listened to for years, as well as GLC , which are always good for a laugh.

We always try and do at least one gig a year. Done 5 so far with one more to go this year. Had a bit of cancellations to catch up on.
Got 3 booked already for next year.
Love Newport State of mind, always makes me laugh <laugh>

Can you still play 8 tracks ?, do you have a player?

I have got a Ruark Audio R5 DAB system and I plug in an old Aux slave for the 8 tracks which I play through the system, same for my vinyls, the slave got to be over 40years old, I've hunted high and low for a 8 track replacement can't find one.

have you tried old auto flea markets etc cars used to have them as standard!

I don't know if you remember Smith Auto Svs, stapleton rd bristol, long gone now but that is where I puchased my original set.
yup used to be a am radio shop in same road .. other car electrics used to be there or just off where M32 was built or bath road area

I have a wide eclectic taste of music depending on what mood I’m in. I’ve posted a few examples on Abers Music Thread over on the Cardiff board.

Overall if pushed my favourite band must be ELO. Out of the Blue is probably the best album ever.
When driving a convertible on a hot summers day you can’t beat some Bryan Adams, AC/DC or Springsteen. Stones or Aerosmith also do it for me.
For romance, trying to impress a lady on a quiet night in with a fire and a glass of wine, David Gates’s Bread is hard to beat. So is Lionel Richie - both solo and the Commadores (spelling)
Sometimes, if I’m in a classical frame of mind, the Strauss waltzes hit the spot.
Dance-wise it has to be the BeeGees every time.
ABBA are always great - whatever the event.
I have a YouTube channel where I collect my bits and pieces.
