ooh and Joe Dassin? i bought L'ete Indien (sp?) when i was in France the year it was number 1 for weeks and weeks...
SLB - if you like Brass band stuff, check this out A pit band doing covers of 90's electro numbers (this is Pacific 202 by 808 State)
Much prefer this one, frenchie. Unfortunately I could only ever speculate about her going down well! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMuNv9HiCI8 SLB - The Waterboys - not bad -must date you to around the time your namesake left for Italy? If your musical taste is half as eclectic as their membership it must cover everything
Back on the French theme, Nouvelle Vague is French for 'New Wave'; Bossa Nova is Portuguese for 'New Wave' - so of course this French band does covers of New Wave songs in a Bossa Nova stylee......
I was very nearlythe bass player for the Waterboys! Made it through to the third audition (this was 1981 or thereabouts, they had made a 6 track EP with Mike Scott playing just about everything, and were recruiting a band for the first album and tour). Didn't get the gig, though!
Some goodnight music for anyone still here! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMuNv9HiCI8 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO3PiNyRXhM
Some great shouts. BB. That means you were very nearly a teenage hero of mine, harrow ;-). I had a pal play drums for The Popes, and another who was pals with Mike Scott in Dublin, late 80s. My favourite album of theirs was 'A Pagan Place'.
SLB - Jim Steinman is incredible. i saw a documentary about him a while back, and his musicianship is completely underrated imho.
Meatloaf played in Oslo a few years back was a great show , last live music I saw was Roger Waters (Dark side of the moon) at Viking Stadium
