Ross McCormack anyone? We also have Jay Simpson returning. I would say a decent holding midfield player and a striker, or if Stewart doesn't return his form then a new winger instead. Already have creative mid in koren, goalscorer in fryatt, goalkeeper with basso, kit man with harper, we don't need much more
very much doubt anyone could buy Rhodes & Butterfield for £3-3.5m in January... Rhodes alone would fetch £4m I think, quality striker with a excellent games/goals record.
They simply won't get that for Rhodes, from anyone in the Championship, he is untried at this level. If they asked that they will keep him and we move on.
We definitely need a striker, with Waghorn missing on Saturday the subs bench was left without much attacking option for a home game. Just need a bit of strength in depth throughout the squad, no need to splash too much money.
In general, I agree. However, what is the most valuable position in the team? Which players' position commands the highest fees? What are we lacking more than anything else? All these things add up to our desperate need for A BIG, MEAN, NASTY, UGLY, GOOD-IN-THE-AIR, GOOD AT SCORING, GOOD AT LAYING OFF, GOOD AT SHIELDING THE BALL, QUICK, MOTHERPHUCKING CENTRE FORWARD!! (Sorry to shout, again!)
cannot see Huddersfield letting Rhodes go unless they slip out of the promotion race. Pilkington went to Norwich for approx 2million so Rhodes would be at least 3million, so for now that door is shut. maybe city could offer james harper and jay simpson plus cash to barnsley for butterfield ? Gerrard can talk to City in Jan if he wants to but i still think that AG will see out his contract there. Why should Hull City pay money for a player they can have for nothing next summer ? AG would be a great addition to the squad even for the PL. and i will stick to my guns here (olm wont like it) but also make a play for Maynard next summer also as a free-bee. He is much better than he is showing at present as he wants out of there. Again Maynard will be able to talk to who he wants in January. NP and his staff know what they are doing. So whilst we all speculate I bet NP is well in control of his January INS. In both Pearsons i do trust. UTT
I think every side needs at least 1 Hard man. But I agree about your comments to do with us lowering our game to match the S*ite play of Watford on Saturday.
We need "Billy Whitehursts Cultured Elbow". Now there is a good name for a forum poster? What price Billy HDM?
Were not in Europe, in England we can only talk in the final month of their contract. I would be very surprised if the sheep lovers didn't offer Gerrard a new deal, but then he may choose not to sign it. Also is that Karl Pilkington?
yes i know. was not meaning that really. more so the great vibes and squad togetheness as we have now. sorry if i mis-led my meaning.
players can talk (england also) when they enter there final 6 months of there contracts. it was Anthony Pilkington(winger) who went from Huddersfield to Norwich in the summer.
Sorry but the rule over here is that the player can only freely enter talks in the final month. The owning club would have to grant permission to a player to talk to clubs before that time.
Ant Gerrard has (from what I've seen from Cardiff fans) been poor this season hence why he's been dropped. There could be a whole host of reasons why he's out of form, but it may reduce the likelihood of him being offered a new deal at Cardiff
Gerrard back on a free (and lowish wages) might seem to make sense to add to the squad. I'm not sure he'd get much a chance: Hobbs and Chester have, IMO, more skill already and will only improve. Gerrard would be a useful squad player but shouldn't we be looking at players like Ayala instead? All speculation anyway. Let's see what plans the management have.
Gerrard would be welcomed back with open arms and he would provide great squad depth, which brings with it competition for places. I do think this will only happen if McShane is shipped out though
Why the **** is everyone obsessed with signing another midfielder? We've got more midfielders at this club than we currently need. Koren played in the centre is the missing creative link, as demonstrated by his recent performances. I would rather have 1 quality addition, blow the whole budget on a striker. Some ****er to convert the plethora of chances we create. I think it's all we're lacking, proven at this/premier level. Maynard, if he costs £5m is £5m well spent. As BC are down around the bottom, out of contract in the summer, they could re invest the money in their squad. a bid in Jan is more likely to be considered.
what utter tosh man. no chance. nobody will pay more than 2 million for a player they can get for nowt next summer. bristol city have lost there chance of a big transfer fee for Maynard.
