Meanwhile, back in Pseuds Corner, Mundell is describing it as a good transfer window Think about it for a moment …if Campbell goes, that will be 5 out from a 28 man first team squad .and we are stronger because of it
Most Clubs adopt the strategy of maximising their chances of promotion. Not continuously buying three or four obvious duds for every half-useful player, then preening themselves when they manage to offload some of the duds and making like that's a good January window. Six wins from eight league games is a good run. Makes it W12, D7, L8. Marginally our best showing after 27 games since relegation in 2020, which frankly isn't saying much. Before that eight game run began the stats were W6, D6, L7 (and worse off than at the same stage last season - our poorest for 98 years) A dreadful position we should never have been in.
Back over on Pseuds Corner tonight, Chief Pseud Mundell is showing a rare flash of passion as he defends his SMT. He keeps repeating his line that the players who have left in January don’t matter as they wouldn’t have figured, without having the balls to admit who signed them in the first place. I’ll give you a clue, Mr Pseud. It was A__y S__tt
Doesn't like other fans having their own opinions. Those opinions being inferior by definition, because they are not his.
Tbf I don’t see the departure of the dross we have as asset stripping. I see it as failed recruitment
Grapevine (who has no time for ITTV’s two resident pseuds), has made the very valid point that there appears to be a strange reluctance by certain people to analyse the recent performance of both Execs & player signings. It just gets glossed over, because it doesn’t fit their wider narrative. Psychologists refer to it as Confirmation Bias.
GFP / Methven own three assets at most - Lloyd Jones’ contract Miles Leaburn’s contract Tyreece Campbell’s contract (at a stretch)
And absolutely nothing else. Not even a pot to pee in. CAFC is a black hole that swallows money. That is now all it does.
This guy would pull open the curtains on a rainy day, and pull on his safari suit. He can’t be wrong. The reason player recruitment is so crap is obvious, but Mundell still can’t quite bring himself to say it. 1. Budget. Methven is so tight (apart from him and his mates salaries), he could peel an orange in his pocket, 2. Recruitment personnel - the Chief Scout / Technical Director (Scott) should have walked the plank for his track record at least 12 months ago. Keep trying to intellectualise failure though Mundell, you’ll get there eventually
The latest from Wing Commander Mundell, now almost the last man standing, alongside Sapper Hawtrey, in the pro Methven camp. (Incidentally, for a poster who has posted so often & so verbosely in favour of the SMT, it’s strange how he forgot to comment on the reasons Scott left the club last week….) As always with Mundell, there’s the tiresome tendency to intellectualise failure and his own lack of ambition for the club. Of course a failure to get promotion this season would be a major setback, because the club would end up shrinking just that bit more - Our better will be sold this Summer, Budgets will be even less next season, ST renewals will decrease further, Attendances will fall yet again, Sponsorship & revenues, ditto. This is the problem with Mundell’s highly flatulent “jam tomorrow” theory - history over the past 20 years at Charlton teaches *most of us* that next year’s jam almost always tastes worse. Is W-C Mundell really that confident that Methven will sell Leaburn and Lloyd Jones this Summer to plug the losses that we wrack up in League One …and replace them with better players. Err …Gassan Ahadme anyone
He lives in cloud cuckoo land. Assets like Leaburn and anyone else we can get a buck for will be sold. They will be replaced by frees and cheap players and so the cycle goes on.
