or even 3rd tier football. There's every chance that Logan Pye could have been our starting left back this season and Joe Hugill our no.9

should have built the team around Henderson and Pickford about 6 years ago. I reckon Pickford needs to go to Chelsea or Man c to win trophies though.

Sanderson played very early in Johnson’s teams. Willis and him, when both fully fit, are a very similar level so when Willis got fit, Sanderson went back to the bench.. So having him or Willis on the pitch with Wright, who was playing well before injury, wasn’t an issue until Sanderson played alongside o’nien. Then he was suddenly “ignored”. There was little to no clamour for him to play centre half. From my memory, everyone wanted him at right back as that’s where he played very well for Cardiff the previous season. We were strugg At right back too so it made sense. But I. Don’t remember anyone clamouring for him to play centre half.

Not forgetting how our fans used to absolutely slate our previous managers for using loaners instead of our own players of course

I still do mate, the loan system should be scrapped along with a few other things for the greater good of the game.

He wasn't like. Always looked to have something about him whenever he played the odd time. At 17 he was definitely a good prospect and given the plodders we've given game time to in CM and fullback we should've given him more of a chance.

Bit hard given we had sold Henderson half a decade prior.

If you mean we should have built a team around them when henderson was still with us, well Pickford was busy negotiating a high profile move to Darlington in the Conference Premier.

    Basically, no.

A very gifted player imo, watching him play, something about him reminded me very much of M'Vila, he did not have his power naturally, but he did have that ability to look comfortable on the ball and find space in tight situations, and move the ball forward with purpose, if only some of our more vaunted hero's had had that ability.

I see it has its place. Think if you can help to further a player’s career and they can help a lower league club then why not. Same league loans I think should be completely outlawed

Don't know for sure, but if the gutless twats in the FA ,put a limit on the number of youngsters a club could have, it would stop the top clubs buying up all the cream youngsters, then loaning them out instead of paying their wages, up Until the time they are good enough to play or sell for big profits. Then lower clubs have been screwed over twice investing money on training then having to by them back for a massive fee

Double edged sword though as it would also potentially hamper the development of some players. Imagine we were in the prem and an Accrington youngster shows interest and is looking a massive prospect. These rules you ask for are in place so we can’t sign him. He ends up disappointed and quits football.

extreme case I know, but if a premier league club comes knocking at a league 1 academy, I’d expect the premier league club to win every time sadly

i appreciate what you are saying, however if the FA make rules that puts a minimum on players being taken from an academy which financially Benefits the lower club then the top clubs will have to pay that proper price which would keep the lower clubs solvent, because if they do go tits up its less for the big boys

Oh I’m not arguing with you mate. I don’t necessarily think it’s a bad idea if it’s done right!

Therein lies the problem. When have any company ever done things right for the lower leagues of football? It would simply end up being weighted in favour of the top league as everything else is.
