If you remember I said before the series started if SJ couldn't handle our speed they could be in trouble mind you SJ haven't really got started. Up till now if you use the 12 periods (not including OT) as a measure I would say its 9/10 to the pens although I have been surprised at SJ. I was watching the 2nd period of game 4 and I was thinking that they look like a team who do not think they can win this the commentator said they just do not look motivated. You never know though in the Stanley cup playoffs sometimes if a team is on the brink and facing elimination it can gee them up to perform better. BTW if I do not answer you straight away its because I am watching the games 17 hours after you so I am trying not to look at your posts(or the internet!) until I have watched the recording. Reminds me of an episode of "the likely lads" when they were trying to avoid seeing a football score
Pitt just closing them down, No time, no space, and SJ big guns need space. No goals from any of them. Credit to Pitt. Not over yet, but it looks dire. I won't post anything straight away after next game.
Heartbroken : Gordie Howe , 88 died this morning . Ali and Howe , Both the best in their sport , boxing and Hockey have had a horrible , horrible week . Rest in Peace ............ " The Greatest " and " Mr. Hockey " on your journey to the big Ring and Rink in the sky .
Bloody hell Mr Hockey - what was the GHowe hatrick think it was a goal, an assist on a goal and a fight. I never saw him play but I read somewhere in his last season he had 41 points - he was 51. RIP
If your reading Outlaw I watched the game (game 5) live. My tv box had problems recording but you could watch the chanels live so l said f**k it and got a days holiday for Friday. That netminder of yours is something else mind I don't think he will ever play a game like that again. I thought we were really in for it when we went 2 down inside 2-3 minutes but to equalise within 5-6 minutes then hit the post 3 times within 10minutes - what a game. Trouble is I have to go in on Monday so hopefully the recording ability is sorted or I might not get to see game 6
Played professional hockey in 5 different decades . Goal , assist and fight a Gordie Howe hatrick is right . Met him in an autograph line up in 1961 John in Dartmouth , Nova Scotia , got him to sign my baseball glove which he got quite a kick out of because I never played hockey . Spent a moment with me that I will never forget . Wonderful , wonderful man .
Both good fighters...! I believe Howe played his last game in his 60s when he turned out for someone in IHL for one game, about 1997. I'm sure Roofer or Outlaw will be able to correct that fact..
He played into 1980 with the New England Whalers when teams from the WHA joined the NHL . He played professionally on the same team as his two sons , Marty and Mark , with Houston Aeros ( I think ) in WHA and the New England Whalers ( eventually Hartford Whalers ) in the NHL . Edit : just one little story I seen on the news years ago . They had a hockey camp which Gordie Howe was part of where you payed money an spent time learning on the ice with some great players . At the end they had a scrimmage game and some guy went in behind Gordie Howe in the corner to check Howe into the boards and just before he hit Howe Gordie moved a bit and elbowed the the guy in the eye . They interviewed the guy on the sports news afterwards , the guy had a minor shiner and said " I went in behind him and the next thing I knew I got an elbow in the face , this is the greatest day of my life " ....lol
