very close field. mercs get there just about and ferrari and maccas take a massive risk teams not wanting 2nd runs
disappointing final times tbh. no improvements. verstappen poor end of lap Ferrari very poor. mercs meh. sainz out quali le clerc again maccas where I expected them at outset of practice. alonso unexpected by good.
Hard to know what to read into the weekend so far. I’m sure Verstappen didn’t quite get everything out of the car for once and it sounds like they tuned it heavily towards the race after looking so poor on long runs. Strong performances from Lando and Fernando and poor from Russell. Danny Ric took a step forward too.
Do both Astons have the upgrades or just Alonso? Not that I am saying Stroll is good but can only really compare team mates in same spec cars. I'm guessing they are doing everything they can to keep Alonso. Just seen that Stroll did have same upgrades!!!!!
I’ve defended Stroll in the past because although he’s inconsistent and generally poor, he would occasionally do something that suggested there was some latent talent that could be unlocked. Those highs are so long ago now and with Aston making progress towards being genuinely competitive, it’s probably best for all involved to realise this relationship can’t run past the end of this season.
Hamilton Where's the 5 tenths. answer, everywhere and imo verstappen slowed in s3 when he saw perez wasn't improving.
If Lawrence is serious about building a championship winning team (and from everything I hear within the sport, he is, very much so) then he surely has to end the dream at the conclusion of this season.
He basically bought the team for his son. The question is, have the priorities shifted enough to ditch the kid? I would suspect not. He could still win a drivers title and still have his boy on the grid. It depends on what's he's chasing.
I`ve got more chance of becoming a Formula 1 World Champion than Lance Stroll Aramco as main title sponsors must be starting to make some noise about lack of making more progress towards the front of the grid with only one car regularly in the points.
We are expecting any tyre changes at this point or is the half lap they raced just a non issue in essence? Technically speaking McLaren with 2 x hard tyre available they could pop a hard tyre on now and then bang another hard on mid way through the race and go to the end and “one stopping” in the live race thanks to this red flag chance to change from their medium. it would be more difficult for the other teams who only have one hard as they would be needing to run their one set of hards for a long time and then bang on a medium/soft at the end.
Yes, must agree with you sgtBhaji Dan had to go right because of Stroll to his left. Alex should have realised there was no way through there. Those Williams chassis are certainly going through it.
