Although I think I know what you're getting at El_Bando, I'm not entirely with you on this (neither am I entirely against you). Max had his faults, the worst of which were to do with what might be termed his 'megalomania'; his rather vindictive means of bull-dozing his way through any and all opposition, particularly his heavy-handedness when dealing with Ferrari's opposition. By comparison, Todt is a 'yes' man, through and through; exactly what Max wanted! But against Max's faults, at least one always knew precisely where one stood. I must emphasise that this is in now way a defence of Mosley. I do not care for his draconian extremism one bit. However, given the respective personalities, one might say it was almost inevitable that Todt would meet with Mosley's approval, and of course Mosley held (and still does hold) significant influence amongst the voting members of the FIA. But in my view, Ari Vatenen would have been far better for the interests of motor sport (and F1) in general, particularly since he is genuinely independent of any leaning towards any Italian car manufacturer…
I Totally agree with that cosi. Ari would of been the perfect man for the job but slimey Max ruined his campaign
I too hoped in vain for Vatanen but it was clear from early on that Max's patsy would get the job. To me though, despite his autocracy and spite, Max was better than Scatman Jean: he had authority and charisma, whereas the Toad seems ineffectual and squirms, eyes averted when interviewed about contentious issues such as the Bahrain GP.
Plus Vatanen has balls. Huge Balls. It takes them to hurtle between trees on a narrow trail at over 100 mph. I think he would have made a decision, and stuck with it.
