I think weighing up the health aspects of drinking, smoking and taking certain drugs, it is no more a risk to my life then most other everyday law of averages. Will it shorten my life yes, will it shorten my life considerably, well it hasn't so far. It depends on how you weigh that risk, do i want to end up in an old folks home with dementia, no, so for me to die at the average male expectancy is no problem, if I die a few years before that because of my indulgences so be it, at least I enjoyed myself.
Well done Ponderings. We all make mistakes in life. We (hopefully), learn from them - NOT to repeat them - that is when we become a better person. Mistakes are a part of life - because none of us are perfect - We can rue our mistakes - but the only need to regret them is when we refuse to learn from their experience.

I believe in many Gods, including King Alfred, Clive Mendonca, Morrissey, Beethoven, Ronnie Barker, Alan Curbishley, Stevie Nicks, Edward I, Edward III, Kenneth Williams, Oscar Wilde and Constable. As for religion, I see myself as a pagan. I worship nature above all else. True joy can only be garnered from wildlife. And Minder.
A couple of years ago I wrote a tongue-in-cheek paper advocating the idea that Edward II was smuggled to France and not murdered at Berkeley; the response to my findings has led to in-depth research on the matter. I shall keep you updated with any developments.
At my house, at a few select libraries, and online. I'll be doing a quiz at approximately 2pm. Until then I am out at my favourite café in Maldon.
I'm guessing it would be easier for me to read it online unless you are inviting me round for tea and tiffin. Which you aren't as you are already at your favourite cafe in Maldon. Roll on approximately 2pm
