Been supporting this club for over 55 years now, never seen it in such a state. Just hope this resignation is part of some kind of grand plan for the future, but my gut feeling is we are lurching from one crisis to another.

I'd be surprised if that was the case, especially with agents as well. Just look at the recent history, 2 relegations, another change of manager to a dull, dour one, a member of the board resigning, fans booing players etc. You don't have to be sherlock holmes to find this stuff out.

It's ironic that most of the things I was accused of making up are gradually falling into place.

I'm too busy, personally, to get into lengthy arguments but one thing I'd say is that Methven has gone and one of the Americans will be at the forthcoming board meeting ...

.... 'All those who say aye,' .....

Methven's out the way and Stewart is a broken man... Cue the yanks.

I wonder how much this adventure will end up costing Stew. Chaz will cover his arse with his free shares but Stewart and Sartori put their own money down to be part of this circus.

If I'm right about our American friends they won't show any mercy when it comes to cashing in their loan.

Afternoon Smug, in your opinion, do you think the American Investors will one day own and run the club?

My opinion has never changed mate.

I think they'll control it but not necessarily run it.

I believe they'd have already taken it over if the current owners hadn't complicated things.

The Americans have spent a large sum of money they'll never get back ...

.... lawyers, feasibility studies, due diligence, advice from people in football, flights, etc.

They'll want a return on their money, time and effort. Any interest they'll gain from this 'loan' won't cover what they've spent.

Anyone who thinks they've suddenly gone into the lending business is loopy imo.

ok mate - to me if you control something you run it so a little confusing - ok put it this way - do they or could they appoint alternatives to Donald if they were not happy? it sure looks that way. they seem to have major bullshit radars.

I didn't accuse you of making them up, but you also said this was a takeover and you've been super ambiguous about everything and you're now acting as if this was always the plan. I'm pretty sure at no point have you suggested that this would be a loan and then get rid of Methven etc.

We know they're attending a board meeting, but are you saying that Methven leaving was their doing and that that they will now take the club over? Are they appointing someone to replace Methven or is SD?

What I mean is that you can control the running of something.

Every big organisation appoints people to run the day to day operations because they can't guarantee having those days free.

People are paid to make decisions and run things but they're controlled from above when necessary.

I mean you're just swanning in here and acting like this is all in the plan :D You can't expect people to question that? It's this 'I know the whole story lads but unfortunately was sworn to secrecy' act that you've been pulling for a while. The reality is that you've been very vague about everything and that's allowing you to act as if this is playing out perfectly.

Simplest way of looking at it is still that if Methven was the stumbling block to a takeover, and Donald was willing to compromise on it, why didn't they just do this and get the takeover done? At best this is completely out of the blue and throws any previous plans into disarray. At worst it's incompetence that has prevented a takeover going through, only to budge on it 3 weeks later.

There's no way this is part of whatever plan you think you know, because it's very obviously contradictory to it.

As I've said, on numerous occasions, I've absolutely no interest in what anyone believes.

    Seriously, I couldn't care less ...

Tories shouldn't be involved in a working class club like Sunderland, I knew from the start that it would end up with salmon trousers ending up with egg on his face.

Also LOL at smug telling everyone I told you so... He doesn't have a clue man

Where's the personal stuff coming from here? Seems like you hate being called out on the ambiguous predictions and whenever I do, you get personal.

How on earth does it make sense that FPP said that they would only do the deal to takeover if Methven and/or other staff weren't involved (your 'staffing issue') and then we ended up not doing a takeover deal and instead received 'investment' (a loan) because they weren't budging, only to actually bin Methven off 3 weeks later? :D

That scenario is ridiculous. The idea that you know what is going on is undermined somewhat by the fact that nobody, least of all the protagonists themselves, seems to have a clue what is going on.

If and when FPP take over the club what do you think their politics are? They are probably GOP supporters and even if they are not and are Democrats they are very much not of the working class. Both Republicans and Democrats are very much to the right of what Britain sees as centrist parties.

The Americans can vote for whoever they want, it's tory boys from Eton who rub me up the wrong way. I miss the good old days of Berb Merrey from the working class mining town Ashington who understood the club, the area and the people who saved and scrimped to see the lads on a satda afternoon

What makes me laugh is that everyone seems to think that they know what Charlie's political affiliations are based on the colour of his trousers yet no one seems to have picked up on the fact that former Presidential candidate Juan Sartori was running for what is effectively the Uruguayan equivalent of the Conservative party.
