I don't relaly begrudge his move to Liverpool, same with his move with Reading... it's just the way he went about it, with the naive comments. You would have thought he would have learnt from his time with us, but apparently not.

Maybe his comments about staying at Swansea was because he didn't really believe Liverpool were interested, so was trying to score brownie points with the Swans fans... and as soon as Liverpool were interested, it was too big an opportunity to turn down!

May sounds strange but I do wish him the best of luck - it was us who gave him his first chance, and now he is managing one of the biggest Premiership teams! I just hope Liverpool fans give him the chance Hodgson didn't. I think they will have to be patient with him....

Come on guys......Liverpool is a big job. He would struggle to do worse than last season.... I doubt at Swansea he would get the same wages or money to spend.

The only thing you can really blame Rodgers for is his typical "I'm not leaving", then leaving the next week.

Totally agree. I can understand and don't have a major problem with him moving, if it is a career move, better opportunity, better contract etc, we would probably all do the same. The issue with Brendan Rodgers is the denial, followed by the move, the questioning of his integrity, followed by the actual event happening!

NNW - See you have tried to enter a discussion with the Liverpool fans! You can't say anything remotely negative to them or they go all defensive and attack you! They have built quite a large victim-mentality!

Just wonder how long until they turn on him, with his tippy-tappy, possession football, in their own half!

Seems to have reversed his decision after being in the states last week, now I wonder if he was talking without club permission? He wouldn't do such a thing being such an honorable man of his word now surely?!!?

SAY NO TO TEAM GB SAY YES TO WALES AS AN INDEPENDENT FOOTBALLING NATION AND BAN ANY WELSH PLAYER WHO JOINS TEAM GB

Is spelling independent independant Welsh? The languages are almost the same.

I think Brendan Rodgers has ability but I think Liverpool is his consolation at not being invited to Chelsea

It's ironic: a set of fans which have gone to war with Murdoch because of lies in one of his papers, believe so strongly in their own blinkered propaganda.

I'm not criticising Liverpool for that, as all clubs are guilty of covering everything they say in a luminous layer of team-coloured gloss. But you'd think a self-professed intelligent set of fans would be able to see through the obvious rubbish, especially in light of what happened to "King Kenny".

He will hope the fans and board give him more of a chance than they gave Hodgson who wasn't a popular choice either.

There has been more Welsh on here than I have encountered in two and a half years living here :) but I think we have established that Welsh and English are anything but almost the same :)

No insight into his tactics, management or coaching at all. Just bitching about the man himself

Zzzzzzzz boring.

I think it shows the short termism and blinkered state of football today that a club with a pedigree as good as LFC recruit as manager a person who has won nothing and only managed fro a very short time.... in my humble view... Stupid....

and my son is a liverpool supporter and i used to go and watch them when I lived there.... so I have nothing against the club...

How prophetic - you'll soon enough find out how that applies to his tactics.

Unless, of course, you appreciate crab football.

This is one of my main worries too. They were very unambitious in possession at times when they played us in both games. There was a sense of keeping the ball for the sake of keeping it at times even when they were in the most unthreatening of areas to the opposition.

Its one thing passing like that on the half way line, its another thing passing like that in the attacking third like Barca do.

My post from yesterday. I'm well aware of the positives and negatives surrounding his tactics and style at Swansea. I was hoping Watford fans would have a better insight into how he put his plans into action seeing as he didnt have the platform Martinez had built at Swansea to build from. Maybe not though, maybe you'd rather

Well, there's your mistake: where Liverpool fans are concerned, it's probably best not to follow conventional logic. Just know that history equates to the present, Tories are evil, Suarez is a victim and Gerrard is a deity. Oh, and it's always somebody else's fault.

Accept these truths and you should be fine.

Ok tactics... be prepared to have a lot of possession - in your own half! Don't be surprised in the first few months if you are hitting 60% possession, with the majority of that being passes between your back 5 and 2 defensive midfielders. You may create 1 or 2 shots on target a game, and your attackers may get a few touches, where they pass back to the midfield!

Expect many of the players to be 'World Class', even if you draw 0-0 at home to Swansea or Reading. Also expect a great deal of self-promotion.

Rodgers is a good coach, but with Swansea he did inherit an already decent squad, that were already playing passing football. He just made it more defensive-orientated, keeping ball in less-threatening areas. His tactics were starting to come through with us but left too early, and with Reading... well, you know what happened there!
