If the meeting beats Mother Nature then Newsworthy will make his racecourse bow at Kempers Park tomorrow in Div 1 of the 2 mile Bumper (4.10). The Geraghty lad will ride.

The colours that the Buckley/Ricci combo have gone for very closely resemble the formers silks in his own right.

Sporting Life are forecasting 11/4 for Newsworthy to oblige in a heat that Mr Henderson won in ’13.

He really ought to be winning a race like this if it goes ahead look's very, I say very average on paper.

Should he oblige no doubt there will be gallons of water downed and plenty of hula hoops consumed in SBC towers!

Yep, would agree that it wasn't the greatest heat ever staged but Newsworthy could certainly do no more than win it like he did. A very sound and promising debut. It will be interesting to see where Mr Henderson sends him next.

He certainly showed Mr Ricci what he was capable of though and it could lead to several more animals coming Mr Henderson's way from that source. I bet old boy Willie Mullins is somewhat worried!

No messing about from Mr Henderson as he’s put Newsorthy in the Grade 2 Bumper at Aintree on Friday. Plenty of money on offer in this heat and its sure to be a top quality renewal.

A whisper incidentally re Newswothy is that he may go down ‘the Florida Pearl route’. That is never jump a hurdle in public and go straight over fences next season.

The animal that ‘the county set’ had such a big win on last month, Miss Crick, is also engaged but she’s more likely to go for the meetings ‘lucky last’. The ‘Mares Only Bumper’ on Saturday.

Didn’t, of course, end up going to Aintree but Newsworthy does take his unbeaten record across the water to Punchestown tomorrow (7.45). The excellent Corithian, Jamie Codd has been booked. Mr Henderson also runs Ok Corral in the same race and gives the lovely, and I do mean lovely, Nina Carberry, the leg up.

Newsworthy has to go into tomorrow’s race with a leading chance although the Wylie pair of Up For Review and Yorkhill look other similarly progressive types.

One person that will, I’m sure, be watching closely is old boy Bill Mullins. Cor blimey I bet the last thing he wants to see is Mr Henderson and his main patron, Rich Ricci, frolicking in the winner’s enclosure after the race. Worrying times for that trainer, methinks.

The word on the street is that Mr Ricci was Disappointed with a capital 'D' and that Newsworthy may very well be the last horse in training he has with 'that man'.. ;)

Now then Beefy, my old love, no need for silliness.

To use a footballing analogy Mr Henderson is the top team, The Arsenal. Dear old Bill Mullins is more Bristol Rovers. It’s only natural that a Bristol Rovers player dreams of stepping out for The Arsenal. Similarly, it’s only natural that one of Bill’s owners dreams of having a horse trained at Seven Barrows, by the master of his profession, Mr Henderson. You can’t crib Mr Ricci for aspiring to be associated with the sports leading light, its most instantly recognisable figure and its most popular icon now can you?!?

Well old boy, Bristol Rovers have delivered countless memorable top table triumphs much to the delight of Mr Ricci including Cheltenham Festival successes such as 3 x Supreme Novices, Champion Hurdles, Champion Bumpers, in fact a list so endless I'd be here all day listing them! Arsenal meanwhile have managed a meagre bumper success, so yes, I see your Arsenal comparison now. Both have trophy cabinets gathering dust and very little else. But I must say old boy, I never knew Bristol Rovers were such a dominant force!

In fact after today it'd be no surprise should Mr Ricci wish to purchase a new trophy cabinet at Bristol Rovers, 30 Grade Ones for the season will take up quite a bit of space I'd say! Mr Ricci is said to Beaming, with a capital B, after Annie Power, Douvan and Faugheen all helped add to that fabulous tally this week. No such problems for the old Arsenal trophy cabinet this year sadly as it's a lean spell there me thinks, very lean indeed ;)
