This is what comes from fans having fairytale expectations, I can understand a club changing managers in Jan/Feb if they are in the relegation zone and not looking like getting out, they must try everything to improve their situation. When teams start sacking managers because they are having a comparatively poor season it smacks of dummy out of pram behaviour. There is only one title to win and 20 clubs trying for it, there are only 2 domestic cups to win and 92 clubs going for them (a **** lot more for the FA cup if you count all the members of the FA).

You have to view each situation individually. Theres no set rule as each is different. Not everyone will get it right first time but they will show signs of having something about them. Others will just take to it like and succeed. Some will just fail. You have to spot these quickly to minimise any damage.

The manager is the most important position at the club. You have to get it right. Giving time without basis is of no use to anyone. Can anyone sat moyes has earned time? Why does he just deserve it? This is top level stuff. Its ****ing ruthless because its a battle only the best can handle.

Liverpool hired and kept dross for 20 odd years. Arsenal have given a decade and gained nothing. maybe theres something to this regular shaking uo of management. Works well for almost all other top clubs after all.

Whats fairytale like about expecting the reigning champions to do better than 7th?

At least mount a challenge. Even a fading one ffs.

Are you honestly saying the players "I don't give a f**k" attitude hasn't played its part?

Some were planning to leave/retire and others were uncertain of their Utd future when Moyes said early in the season their would be big signings coming in and also outgoings, its a combination of Moyes's naivity and players thinking their winners medals are more important than Moyes.

  5. This. Two of them took over their respective teams in a lower division too.

Well if in your opinion some of last seasons champions haven't tried this season should they be ****ed off like Moyes no matter who they are?

Even if a Utd p!ayer dislikes Moyes and his tactics he should still give his best for the badge and fans and the club that gives him his luxurious lifestyle?

Like some of your players under hodgeson? Your captain for one.

No. Its the managers job to motivate his players. Simple as that.

Last season was the fairytale mate, we won the league at a canter with...2 semi retired mid fielders, 2 perpetually injured centre halfs, 1 left back who has not defended for 3 years, 1 glass striker who managed to stay injury free for a season, 1 striker who has been doing his best to leave the club for the last four years (only money has kept him here) and sulks all the time, 1 winger who`s only assett was pace (which he lost 3 years ago), many of the rest are players who many people don`t seem to think are good enough like Cleverley, Young, Welbeck, Nani, Anderson, Smalling, Evans, Jones etc so with the change of manager thrown into this why would anybody expect more than 6th or 7th place?

Not all of the above opinions are neccessarily the opinions of the poster :D

Ah come on UIR this seasons players at Utd won the league last year as you keep telling us, our players under Hodges on by comparison.<laugh>

Moyes has got a 6yr contract and a promise that he'll be given time plus he was chosen by SAF, Hodgeson came to us after being chosen by a Chelsea supporter who left after Woy's appointment and woy asked for 12 games to show he could hack it, after taking us to 18th he asked for 10 more games before he was judged.<laugh>

Moyes has taken Utd to the quarter final of the CL and got knocked by possibly the best team in Europe, Woy got us knocked out of the League Cup by a team of burger flippers and car washers.<doh>

Show me the fan who expected 6th or 7th and I will call him a liar.

The very worst expectations were 4th place.

Although that's not my opinion of a couple (like Rooney and Nani) that's a pretty spot on perspective of the club. If I was to break that down further I'd say the squad alone would account for finishing 4th/5th, with the addition of change in manager and some mistakes from Moyes accounting for bringing it down to 7th

Like i said at the bottom, not neccessarily the opinions of the poster :D
I happen to think Nani is the most talented player we have and has been held back by injury, i also think Anderson has the quality to play for us but again is injury prone. I would like to see Jones and Evans given a decent run as a pair at centre half (think they would be really good), Smalling has time to prove himself, Welbeck is good enough and has United in his blood so gives his all every game. Rooney has lost something over the last 6 years, not sure what but he is not the player he promissed to be.

I think we have a very good squad but one that needs a few additions.

Seems we have similar opinion of the same players <ok>

I also think Jones and Smalling partbership will come good. I remember seeing them a few years ago for England U21 tournament and they were brilliant.

I can accept this, but after being battered (on more than one occasion) by teams they would expect to at least compete against you would expect them to regain some focus and composure.

I'm looking from the outside in UIR mate but Utd's season has been highlighted on TV and its plain to see that the players minds retired just like SAF, maybe Moyes has kissed their hairy arses to get through his first season but theires no way they haven't took advantage and let him, the club and themselves and the fans down.

Wouldn't that be where the manager and coaches come into play?
