Crossed my mind too mate. At the least they would have taken a reference from us, but I do wonder if Speakman and Dodds have given some insight into his work and methods. Maybe he and Speakman didnt see eye to eye as some suggest, but I would like to think even in that scenario Speakman and Dodds were really impressed with his overall achievements and contributions here. From a purely footballing perspective he achieved some very high standards I think.
Mmm, bit harsh TC. Could see why he was brought in as,at the time, Pritch future in a bit of doubt, a little bit of experience necessary perhaps.Unfortunately, injuries have curtailed his season so far.
I think you could probably look at either scenario as progress. The club might be more interested in player or team development for this season. I don't know. I think we're at least a season away from being ready to go up, so as long as we're not in the bottom half, this probably another transitional/consolidation season.
Was Rotherham first game? I thought it was Boro my bad! People wanted unrealistic appointments that’s the problem. Asking for managers who’ve recently turned down much bigger, better paid jobs than we can offer. I was disappointed we didn’t get Still but nobody knows how available he was re; compensation required. Imagine if we’d appointed Ian Foster or Luke Williams like Swansea and Plymouth respectively.. meltdown would’ve been incredible.
I hope we make the play-offs this season but a top 8 finish would not be a disappointment as long as the club is in a stronger position overall than last season, and to me its well on the way, one or two obvious areas to address , and I am sure we will be by then.
If we sell Pritch in Jan,my heart will drop too. By the way,are you speaking of the Saudi who doesn't drink beer and worships a barbaric cult, seeking world domination through fear and intimidation....or,the recent convert who only cares about the beer swilling and the money?
He'll do fine there. We know his level - upper championship flirting with the playoffs and not much further. Best of luck to him.
Yeh wish uncle Tony all the best in his new venture but as someone has already mentioned it now makes his reasons for leaving Blackburn wanting to be near his family strange mind unless his home situation has changed
I have no idea, but if anyone said to you, Thousands a week, just live away 5 days a week, most people do it
He is a football man mate, all he has ever known. I bet he hates been away from it day in day out. At 60 he probably isnt seen as a candidate for a lot of clubs (wrongly of course) so he might be keen to take any job at a good level.
No idea if £10k is right or wrong, but isnt it odd that in a football club players earn more than the man at the top? In most orgs you pay the man at the top the most. If I were in charge of a club I would pay the coach I thought best top dollar every time.
I agree with the sentiment, but that's often not how it works. In the commercial world, the best salesman will get top wage, the best trader at a bank will get more than his managers. It's all about the amount they can bring in....top players with shirt sales, media,pr etc., can bring in a mint of revenue....much more than the coach.
