In the early part of the season I was wondering why Lambert chose Villa, as he could have very easily damaged his reputation before he'd got one. Now, however, there are glimpses that he knows what he's doing - even if part of it seems to be try to avoid paying Sunderland any more appearance fees for Darren Bent.
"It was a second defeat in 12 games for Liverpool and will serve as a reality check to their growing levels of expectancy and optimism that they might be able to launch an assault on the Champions League places.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers had even claimed he was looking higher than fourth place but those comments came back to haunt him after his side were beaten by an improving and youthful Villa, who extended their unbeaten league run to five games to move up to 14th place."

I agree with that, and have no idea what the Bent things about, but injury has done Lambert a timely favour. Benteke looks promising.
Bent isnt a team player and lambert is very much about having a tight team unit so i cant see bent having much of a future and i would guess lambert wants to find a seller so he can bring in his own players.
When Brendan Rodgers said he thought Liverpool could finish second I didn't realise he meant in every game.
.They're probably the second best side in Liverpool, although I haven't seen Everton's reserves play this year so it's difficult to judge.
Does Santa really live in the North Pole?
Let's look at the evidence
- wears red and white
- good at breaking into houses
- has loads of electrical goods with no receipts
- drives an unlicensed vehicle
- only works one day per year (unofficially and doesn't pay tax)
Lapland, my arse.
He's a f***ing Scouser!
The old ones are the best. Boom, boom.

'Pool leapt a massive 4 places, from 12th to 8th, and will now consider that they can challenge for the title, this season.
I imagine that there will be a lot of sore heads today, after all the partying on the streets of Merseyside, with cans of Tenant's Super Strength Extra littering the alleyways, and perhaps the strain of Cilla Black still ringing out, where one Mouser or two has fallen asleep with the CD left on "loop" mode.
The thing is, of course, that they remain only a loss away from dropping back down to 13th - when they come up against a half-decent side.
I'd like to applaud their current achievement, however, since it does demonstrate a willingness to finish in the top half of the table.

I actually woke up this morning on my bathroom floor, with my Liverpool towel as a mattress under me.
But that's another story![]()
