Sturridge was starting on the bench a fair few times actually - although mainly due to fitness. They really haven't played much together.

The point is that they are not competing for 1 place as when fit both play therefore there is no pressure on Sturridge. Are you disagreeing with that?

How does helping the club identify with the fans help the club become the dominant force in English football again? Quite honestly the only person who seems to have gone mad about this is Mr Henry himself.

You know exactly why, don't argue needlessly past any relevance.

Nope, just making the point... both are too good to drop, and it will be very interesting to see how they're accommodated over the course of this season.

I wouldn't say there's no pressure on Sturridge though... he still has to perform to meet the club's expectations, Roy Hodgson's (yikes), his own etc etc

Maybe you could explain this to Kops'n'Rodgered because he disagrees and thinks they are competing for 1 place even though they both play <doh>

Rooney and Gerrard. Yep. Sturridge was poor though.

Yeah but he's not a "Mouser" <ok>

On a serious note I thought his build up in the first half was pretty good, as was Welbecks, and he put a few good challenges in the second half.

In front of goal though they were both **** - especially Welbeck.

Think its the correct formation though. The movement and space it opens up is excellent.

I agree on formation, just not sure about Wellbeck. Sturridge looks good on the ball, great control and technique, whereas Wellbeck looks like a "Heskey" to me. Willing runner, but not adding much else. Early season looked good, but now is back to last season's model

Yeah he wasn't convincing.

I think he has a better touch and eye than Emile though and I wouldn't drop him as its opening up everyone else's game and he has scored a few for England too to be fair.

I think he's okay - just not Robbie Fowler.

Fowler got a criminally low number of caps for his talent. One of the best finishers. His head seemed to be his undoing a bit.

Venables and Hoddle were the last England coaches to pick teams, rather than just chuck the players with the most media coverage into the starting xi - there were two places up front, Sheringham was there to load the bullets, meaning one spot for Shearer, Fowler or Ferdinand.

Let me give you a more up to date quote for your sig. That one looks sad being so out of date.

I'd put my house on Spurs not getting top4 this season and you can quote me on that.
