The funny thing is they really don't go on about Suarez in the media when he dives. There was barely a peep after he "won" a penalty against Swansea.

What always get picked up on in the press is when a player is either booked for a dive or wins a penalty with zero contact. The media fails to recognise that the refs and the FA are not handling the problem well either. If diving's so bad then worsen the punishment and if it's too difficult for refs to call then handle the cheating retrospectively. The pundits/journos themselves need to stop being so hypocritical, not in their treatment of Bale, but in their treatment of all players falling over when they don't need to. It's nonsense when they come out with "he had a right to go down there", "there's just enough contact for a penalty there" or the most frustrating of all "he could/should have gone down there" because if that's the way they look at it then how can they criticise a player for going down easily when they deem it not quite enough for a penalty? It's the same angle some referees take too so it's hard for them to blame players for looking to win penalties when they in part encourage it by rewarding players that choose to go down in the first place. I don't expect players to know exactly where the line is because refs and the media can't even agree where the line is, which is why it's probably best only punishing dives with no contact and where they've starfished, dragged a leg for contact(like Bale did on Thursday) and then if they deem to have gone down easily they simply lose the benefit of the doubt but don't get booked(like Bale has been booked several times for).

A lot of Sewerez`s diving does seem to go unnoticed, but that is down to the Liverpool loving media bias who just choose to ignore and overlook it. Sewerez has won countless free kicks and the odd penalty for his theatrics and referees seem to be falling for it even after he came out and openly admitted he dives.

If Bale was playing for Man Utd or Liverpool he would have had a lot less yellow cards and Spurs would have had quite a few penalty kicks.

Sewerez does get off rather lightly considering the amount of times he tries to con the referee (he dives and over reacts every single time he is tackled, and sometimes even when there is nobody within a few yards of him), it is time these Mouser loving referees opened their eyes a bit imo.

From the same paper, all published yesterday:

5 stories about Bale diving in one day. Glad that they're not criticising him for it though, eh? <doh>

  5. The Daily Fail has an aggressive anti-Spurs agenda, and nothing they report about us can be taken seriously.

Would you dislike him as much if he wasn't so good?

So you're saying fans across the land hated Robbie Savage because he was a world class player, pundit and commentator?

  10. Read our posts (especially mine).

To save you the trouble, here is a summary of the majority of opinion on this board:-

    (1) Goofy is a talented footballer, far too good for 'Pool, as it happens.

    (2) Goofy probably will not stay at 'Pool, because he clearly has it in him to be at a club that actually has a chance of winning things.

    (3) All that said, and despite his talent, most of us wouldn't want him anywhere near Spurs, because he is a vile, nasty piece of work, and Spurs have a tradition of not employing those types of individuals.

Summary: good player, probably world-class on his day, but too loaded up with personal baggage to become a Spurs legend. More suited to PSG or £ity.

He may well move in the summer - who know's??

But what makes you think he'll even consider a team like Spurs (like Arsenal) - yeah you will get top 4 (which I guess is a trophy, considering your lack of in recent years). If he was to move it would be to a team that stands at least half a chance of winning the CL.

So fortunately for you, he would laugh at a move to Spurs <ok>

    If he does go.....

He's got a move to Bayern written all over it. Pep's brother is Suarez's agent - If he goes this summer, Germany is his destination <ok>

  13. You ask:-

...and then you provide yourself with the answer:-

    <ok>

If we made an approach for Goofy, he'd snap our hands off. To play alongside the likes of Bale, Lennon, Lloris, Defoe, Dembele, Siggy, Holtby, Ade, etc would be a dream-move for most players, especially as we look likely to be able to offer him a guarantee of European football for many years to come.

However, as I have pointed out, his character is far too odious for us. The fans would never take to him, even if he did manage to repeat the kind of form that he's currently showing for you (and I remain to be convinced that he can).

HIAG - you forget how fickle football fans are..... he would win you lot over within a month <ok>

  15. I suppose I haven't allowed for the fact that we might well be able to help him clean up his act. If he cut out the nastiness, I suppose he might well fit in.

Something dodgy in the water in London. Now THFC fans also believe 4th place is a trophy. Whereas the League Cup trophy is not a trophy.

To be fair HIAG, from when he first joined us, he has cleaned his act up considerably. Except the stamp against Zenit, for me he's been pretty well behaved this season.

Something dodgy with opticians in Merseyside - someone from there reads that Spurs fans have said top 4 is a trophy when nobody actually has.

On topic, should be a cracking game this afternoon. I've pluimped for the draw

Of course the League Cup is a trophy, why would anyone think Spurs fans of all people would dismiss it? It's the only reason we can laugh at Arsenal's trophy drought.

We all know a CL place isn't actually a trophy but there's not many that disagree with what Wenger said last season, it's as good as a trophy because these days you need that CL income to challenge at the very top. For fans we'll always enjoy winning a trophy more but realistically getting CL money is of more benefit to the club.

Considering their supposedly considerable finances and the need for a match winning forward, I wonder what would happen if Arsenal went in for Suarez in the summer?
Depends on how the rest of the season turns out, I suppose.
