It is the reason - it's just obviously not a golden ticket. I'm not saying we deserve to be higher than we are, just that our position is largely our own fault - we could and probably should be higher, but have ourselves to blame. I imagine most fans could argue similarly, yes.
Suarez may well be a lovely person off the pitch, but most players won't know him in that capacity. I doubt any of the defenders that he's raked down the back of the leg will be putting him up for any awards.

I think he means that we haven't finished as high in the Premier League as their best. It's another fine point because we're always going on about how great Tottenham have been throughout the whole Premier League era and how poor Liverpool have been in the same period
