A very fair comment i do not doubt Liverpool to be a big club, they obviously are i just thought it a very bold statement to make about a team which hasn't achieved the heights it was used to for a while now.

I see an argument about what defines a big club on the way!

Deja Vu? lol

why dont we just leave it there and agree that my dad is bigger than your dad. (No one bring mums into this!)

I am suprised to see the thread that tries to educate the mouser on there "delusions" has not yet provided any discussion on what Sturridge has had to say about his new club after his arrival at Liverpool.

He's been qouted saying "In the Premier League, there is no bigger club than Liverpool." He cannot seriously believe this?

What is it about joining Liverpool turns players and managers into deluded morons, i just don't understand it, unless he believed the comment to be true he must have realised he would sound like a prat.

FFS<doh>

Every new manager and every new player always give the same spiel if asked by a reporter or at a press conference.

Why are you even commenting on this<ok> Straw clutching wummery<laugh>

Don't get me started all over again using facts about both clubs to prove which is the smaller club<laugh>

This is so tiresome the constant bleating rubbish, good wummery is based in truth, not made up lies and cr@p, which makes up 99% of what HIAG types<ok>

When did I lie I provided an opinion on something that Sturridge said.

I also have no need to wum Liverpool is no fun whilst your team continues to fail so badly. They wum themselves.

Im not 100% sure on this, but I think we knocked you out of the Next gen this evening?

is this right?

You beat Inter Milan 4-1, don't think groups are finished yet so there hasn't been a draw.

I might be wrong but I think the groups take the top 2 and the best 4 3rds for the final 16 and Marseille and City are both worse 3rd places than us.

Sturridge a man with grandiose thoughts...like himself being an amazing footballer(!)

Odd comment this as I'm reading down, why have a pop at a 3rd place team when you're bantering with a United fan...who aren't 3rd! are you under the impression that 'Style' is a Spurs fan?

A united fan? Right. Fair kop, what can I say<doh> It's not odd if I thought he was a Spurs fan. I don't really look at profiles

I don't think so. Chelsea still have to play Ajax, but one of them, PSV, Liverpool and us look like the 4th best 3rd place clubs, as far as I can see.
Marseille would go out on GD and City for just being crap.

To be fair to Sturride, he's not really burning any bridges by making that comment.
Why not make put a brave face on it? I'm sure that he's earned some cheap points with Liverpool fans by making the right noises and scoring on his debut.

Also mate, define cheating, breaking the rules and trying to get away with it.?

CAlling offisde when not offside?
Claimng a throw when you know you did touch i last?
Claiming a player dives when he did not.
Saying the ball did not cross the line.
Pulling of strikers and getting away with it.
Blocking players off intentionally
Pretending to be injured when you are not (Amost every player does this in the prem)

What is cheating?

All of these really and most are explicitly banned by the laws.

Appealing for throws corners and offsides is particularly interesting. It is only done to influence officials and I think that should be forbidden

The appealing for throws and corners is a pet hate of mine.

I like it when people appeal and walk into a defensive position, as they know they're lying! <laugh>
It always infuriates me when you can tell which team should win the decision purely from body language, yet the officials balls it up.
Both sides move as if they're setting up for a throw in from Team A. Ref awards it to Team B. <grr>

Nah mate, we know it is the usual spiel even if we can use it to annoy chavs but ONLY if he outscores Ba come season end<laugh>

What is "cheating" in sport?

There are many practices in many different sports which are aimed at gaining an advantage over an opponent and some are not expressly outlawed by the rules, but would not be considered "sporting". We can all think of them from sledging in cricket to holding down in the tackle in rugby league. Football is no better or worse than most, just more high profile. Suarez's crafty handball is not too far removed from the batsman who doesn't walk he knows he's edged the ball.

Only a few sports expect or allow players to referee themselves because they can be trusted not only to play by the rules but follow a moral code prevalent in their sport. Snooker and golf do in some respects. Can you imagine Suarez calling a handball against himself like snooker players call foul shots?

Wow! It would seem that my "hand of Goofy" comments have caused some heated debate on this thread. Quite rightly, too, since it was an heinous act of mind-blowing stupidity, betraying a complete lack of sporting integrity. I take the point (made by a Mouser), that those few seconds could well mar what might otherwise prove to be a great season for Suarez, but look at this way - would you guys still think I'm a great bloke if you discovered that I drowned kittens? No, probably not. Never mind that I give generously to charity, or the fact that I have supported causes such as Amnesty International for more than a decade, if you lads discovered that I drowned even one kitten, you'd put a black mark against my name for ever. Neither would it make any difference if I pleaded to you that "I only did it the once," because the mere fact that I did at all would forever place a question-mark against my moral integrity. Same with Suarez. He might not drown kittens, but he did cheat in the most heinous fashion, against a team that the 'Pool of Yesteryear would have trounced 3-0, probably. Do you think Shankley would have been proud at beating Mansfield with a handball? Of course, he wouldn't; he would have been spitting nails.

By the way, I take no offence at the hurtful things that BBF has written about me. He is hurting, deep inside. He knows that what Suarez did was a dreadful thing, and that there is nothing he can do to defend his actions. I suspect that the burden of shame rests particularly heavy on BBF's shoulders, as it is clear that he is a long-suffering supporter. In fact, I rather sense that BBF, and other Mousers, are getting thoroughly sick to the back-teeth with Suarez and his antics, and having to continuously defend him. So, please, understand that I take absolutely no offence at the vile things that BBF has said against me. They were said in anger, and in the heat of the moment.

As for Sturridge, yes, I am a little surprised that he's suddenly come out as a life-long 'Pool fan. Shades of Robbie Keane, anyone? There does seem to be something about the indoctrination techniques at LFC that causes players to "suddenly" discover their Mouser affections upon signing for the club. Perhaps Gerrard and 7 of his mates work on the new boy in the showers for 20 minutes before he gives his first interview, just to make sure that he sings from the same hymn-sheet. No doubt, Sturridge will be a life-long 'Pool fan right up to the moment he leaves them to play at a more successful club.

Drowning kittens VS a handball..... HIAG you're mental.

Cant you see the way he smashed it into the net due to frustration as he expected to get blown up for handball. He didn't so the goal stands. Ref's bad decision. Simple.

Play to the whistle..... they teach that at U9 grass roots level. Next year pay attention in PE and they might tell you that too HIAG <ok>
