Sorry, but it all seems like so much arse. Mourinho isn't afraid of failure. He's just whipping up media frenzies because he knows there's going to be more pressure put on Wenger and Arsenal (and in many cases Man City because of the expectation for them to succeed) than there is on his side. He's a bit of a tit for trying to play mind games, but this whole "he's playing mind games because he's a coward and he's running scared and he's projecting because he's actually scared of failure himself" hot air is just crap, honestly. He's not playing mind games because he's scared, he's playing mind games because he's Jose Mourinho. He always does it.
Of course he's afraid of failure. That's exactly why he's trying to say Chelsea aren't in it so that he can't be accused of failing. The problem is Maureen can't do 'mind games' because so much of the **** he comes out with is quickly batted into touch, whether it's moaning about players diving, other teams having more rest days, or trying to pile the pressure onto other teams by deflecting it away from Chelsea, it all fails and actually makes him look like an idiot in the process. When he first came to the PL he was quite funny and gave his quips with a smile and a laugh, now though he's a bitter little man who makes himself look like a twat on a weekly basis. The media lap it up because it sells rags and the cycle of Maureen's bullshit continues.
Very true. It's hard to hate someone who pokes fun at himself...unless he wasn't lying about being borderline illiterate! 'Arry had charisma which made many of his foibles forgiveable. Tax evasion aside obvs.
He's pulled the same line on countless occasions to divert pressure away from him and the team and onto the other teams in the title race. It's an old trick, because he knows they're challenging ... he can say "Oh, did we win it? We weren't even at full strength y'know, that comes next season.". Don't see why it's suddenly because of a "fear of failure". It's got Wenger talking about it in the press. So mission accomplished for Mourinho.
If he was asked about it in the press conference, it's hardly his fault. It's the media who are talking, not Wenger.
what a strange view of the situation. Wenger was specifically asked about the rude comments made by Jose to which he brushed them off as silly and disrespectful and that Chelsea had more to be embarrassed about than he did. He handled it with total class and completely put mourinho in his place. Mourinho didn't succeed at anything whatsoever with his latest comments, infact I'd go as far as to say they are up their with his biggest failures when attempting to wind up or push pressure onto someone else. The whole football world thinks he made a tit of himself.
There is truth in what Murray says, rather than Monday's papers being full of Chelsea being knocked out of cup by Citeh they were full of news about AW's spat with Mourinho.
While you guys are all falling over yourselves to call him a tit, he's walking around smugly thinking to himself "Aaaaaaaaaand nobody asking us about results." And then he goes back to f*cking winning with no pressure put on his team, whereas we heap more pressure on ourselves by Wenger actively protesting about how much we aren't failures (which we then have to go out and prove with silverware). Which Wenger could've avoided by not answering the question. Just because some idiot journalist asks about what Mourinho says doesn't mean he's obligated to give a response. Pretty much fell right into the trap. Delude yourselves all you want, but basically ... Jose's getting exactly what he wants out of this, and he doesn't give a f*ck who thinks he's "making a tit out of himself" if it helps divert the media away from his players and their results. Which is what this has done.
You obviously haven't seen wenger answering the question so I'm not sure why your trying to argue so strongly you're opinion. He didn't protest that we weren't failures, he refused to be drawn into agreeing or disagreeing or commenting about that at all. He literally shrugged it off with class. Think you should probably watch The video before deciding mourinho is some sort of master and that wenger has fallen into a trap rofl.
I know you did cym. I wasn't addressing you within that, I just didn't want to quote you and thus "do a PISKIE" (i.e. grab hold of someone's post who agrees me with in an argument and post a meaningless clappy emote/"hear hear" comment). (Sorry PISKIE, but you do do that a lot. ) Again, I don't think anybody really believed that comment when he said it, did they? It was just another mind game to try and put pressure on Man City.
Which is why there were loads of headlines after we beat Liverpool saying "Wenger calls Mourinho an embarrassment to Chelsea" instead of "Arsenal beat Liverpool". You're clearly letting personal bias sway you here by trying to claim I must not have seen it (thanks to my BTSport package I was watching the interview live, thank you), because Wenger saying "One thing I know, it's an embarrassment to Chelsea what he's saying" is not "refusing to comment". It is, in fact, commenting. And thus everybody got the headline they wanted, everyone's talking about Mourinho instead of Arsenal winning, and Jose walks away a very happy man. You know how you shrug off comments? You say "No comment". Or "I don't want to talk about that". You don't say "I don't want to talk about that ... but I will say this, I think he's blahblahblah". No point saying "oh but he did it in a classy way?" You think the papers care about that? All they wanted was for him to stoke the fire by commenting on it (which is also what Mourinho wants) and Wenger played right into that.
