Well no, but there are a few. Albacete, Oviedo, Tenerife, Alavés, Salamanca and Cádiz are all well known clubs at that level. For me, what makes the English lower leagues that bit better is the fact that we don't have "B" teams in the leagues. That really does ruin the competition a little bit.
Aren't Oviedo a bit a big fish in a small pond? I believe they used to be a pretty decent team before they screwed up and got relegated several leagues. Norwich, Leeds and Saintsgot very large turnouts for L1.
Just gonna chip in - Messi and Ronaldo are definitely not midfielders. Barcelona play such a free flowing formation that you can't define Messi to a specific position, but he's certainly always in attack,
That's because the whole team is always in attack and they play practically without a formation. Watch what happens when they actually have to defend - they fall back into a 4-5-1 (probably the only time you'll see them in a rigid formation other than during and shortly after kicking off) and Messi performs the defensive role of a winger. If he was in a team that wasn't so incredibly dominant, you'd see him performing midfield duties more often.
They went into administration in the summer after they were relegated from La Liga and the Spanish FA (if that's the correct body) decided to drop them down another division. They then actually got relegated again to the 4th tier shortly after but came back up. They have an outside chance of promotion to Segunda this season, but you have to go through playoffs even if you win the league.
If he wasn't in the Barcelona team he'd play a forward - the only reason he defends at all is because it's the way Guardiola plays. I saw an interview with Pedro saying neither he, Villa nor Messi was familiar with any kind of defensive tactic until Guardiola trained them to be. If we're saying Messi isn't a forward, then none of their attackers are.
Actually my original point is that he isn't a striker and therefore cannot be compared to Rooney. Forward is a more vague role, which I'm willing to concede that Messi falls in to.
