To add onto my previous post, Rose started the first seven league games this season under Pochettino after Poch had transfer listed him. Ben Davies was back in the squad from injury on matchday two. By the time Poch was sacked, Davies had started just three of the possible eleven league games he was available for.

Rose has only started one of the nine league games Jose has been manager of and featured off the bench twice.

Sorry to say but if anyone was guilty of overplaying and persisting with Rose, it certainly isn't Jose.

Lots of managers play their signings or preferences ahead of other manager's signings or the less favourite sons. It's how we ended up with Lucas on the bench in the CL Final. It's potentially as much a bad thing as a good one

Gedson Fernandes is a punt right now, I'm desperate for him to succeed but he's no more likely to play well than Sessegnon, who has at least played with his team mates in training.

I don't think Winks plays that well in any 2 man midfield and think that we're set up to play a three. In an away game or against Chelsea at home, I'd have gone with those 2 as part of a three, well before playing Dier, especially in a two. Well before.

I mentioned this the other day, and no it isn't healthy to be so reliant on any one player and is a damning indictment of our lack of forward thinking, but Davies returning to the team - IF he is still the same player after two operations (Dier, Rose and Wanyama weren't), could literally be the cliched 'new signing' managers go on about when a player returns from injury soon after a transfer window. A mate of mine has even started referring to him as 'Anakin' as he is meant to restore balance to the team <laugh>.

With a proper, defensively reliable LB, we can effectively compensate for Aurier's tendency to go walkabouts throughout games. It also allows us to play Jan and Sess in their stronger positions - only starting at LB for the odd game when Ben Skywalker needs a rest.

However, this all hinges on the massive great big IF at the start of the argument. If Ben isn't the same player, which is sadly quite a high possibility given his poor injury record, we are royally fecked.

Sessegnon was injured and we sacked Poch, for having lost it.

Rose isn't a viable answer, but he's an experienced member of the squad and Mourinho picked him for a big game.
It didn't work out, as we know, but it's far harder for him to moan about being badly treated now.
He's been given a chance, he failed to take it and he has to work for another one or go away.
Any choice would've been a risk there for that game, so the manager ticked a variety of boxes by picking Rose.

Dier and Wanyama do appear to be either finished or miles short of full fitness, but who else do we have?
I'd have chucked in Skipp far more often, but that's putting a lot of pressure on inexperienced shoulders.
It's similar to the Parrott situation, but I wonder how much of that is down to not knowing how they'd work out?
If they also failed, then what?

A lot of our problems at the moment are down to a failure to move on players who are of no use to our managers.
If we have multiple players in weak positions, then any coach we bring in has to try them until he runs out of options.
The alternative is sticking with what we know doesn't work and then you end up with Aurier at right-back.

Rose and Dier are done for now...maybe for keeps. Mourinho should be all too aware of this. I think he is but something keeps dragging him back to them.

He needs to draw a line and stop it and back players who will give their all and improve. The options may not be perfect...if they were, he'd not be our manager. Tanganga has come in and done very well. Others can be given a shot. Foyth should have been given time at right back, Aurier's just too dangerous against better teams.

Be brave Jose and let's get some heart and soul back in the shirt!

Gedson came on against Watford and was arguably our best player just from 10 minutes of football. He done more in the game for Spurs than Winks, Lo Celso and Alli did from a central midfield standpoint.

Right now, he can't possibly be any worse than any of the CMs we've played of late and I hope Jose gives him the chances to prove that.

Winks isn't good enough just like Dier. He never really has been either, two-man/ three-man it won't make a difference. It's persisting with players like him, coupled with the decline of key players, why we are where we are.

After matchday one, Davies was available. As was Vertonghen. Pochettino had just as many options as Jose has had, one chose to play Rose for the majority of games, one hasn't.

If we don't loan in a striker or buy one will jose give parrott a chance that's the question I want an answer to. With our lack of goals lately it seems ridiculous to me that he doesn't even make the bench.<doh>

Jose shouldn't be in a position where he has to rely on a 17 year old though. Would I like to see the lad in the squad at the moment? Sure. But I don't think Jose is doing right or wrong by not selecting him.

Pochettino shouldn't have been naive enough to think we only needed one striker, nor should Levy, he should've offered Llorente a good enough contract if he knew no striker would be arriving in the summer.

Jose's already said he wants a new striker, so the ball is now firmly in the board's court on this.

Yes and the results that Poch was getting, got him the sack. Rightly so. He wasn't making smart decisions and if the rumours are true, he'd fallen out with a large number of players, especially Vertonghen,

I remember hearing Mourinho talking about Rose on the first day of training, saying "He doesn't run does, he?" He's plainly unfit and in the games he's played, he's been the cause of a significant number of goals that we've conceded.

A new manager has the ability to go back through the footage of previous games and see what's what. I accepted Mourinho picking the established players in his first few games. However, he saw that Rose wasn't up to it and that first day's training was how he 'plays' now.

Then, against Liverpool and Salah, he brings him back. Rose is duly terrible...as everyone else knew he was going to be and we're back to square one. I don't get it. Sessegnon can run, Rose can't even do that now.

To me, he's making decisions that don't appear to be joined up and often need addressing at half time to dig us out of the hole that we've jumped into. I'm hoping that tonight we'll get a balanced line-up and not have to rip up the plan after 45 minutes.

The problem is that he's paid to manage what we've actually got or not got, as is increasingly the case.

Mourinho is joining the increasing number of Spurs managers who haven't got the players that they wanted. Pochettino didn't get Dybala (amongst others) as AVB didn't get Hulk.

He knew what he was getting himself into and is an extremely experienced PL manager. He needs to get results out of what he has got.

I'm not expecting him to get Top 4. That was never really on. However, he should be able to get Top 6, maybe beat Salzburg and start to build a balanced and relatively settled side, laying the foundations for next season.

Currently, I'm not confident going into any game, which is exactly where we were 3 months ago.

I agree jose shouldn't be in the position of having 1 striker who is injured but he contributed to that by over playing him so we are left with 1 fit 17 year old striker who should by now have a few more minutes under his belt so if we don't sign or loan one in what's jose gonna do ,surely it's a no brainer to at least have parrot on the bench.

I think it's borderline suicide of a club to be putting pressure on a kid, especially with the position we're in. I may not have agreed with everything Jose has done so far but I think he's trying to protect Parrott along with forcing Levy to get his chequebook out and for that I back him completely. He said in his press conference that Parrott still needs to go through a process and then cited Tanganga as an example, so I get the impression Jose doesn't feel Parrott is ready yet, even if we don't have any other striker.

I'm also not confident but that's mainly because I'm seeing high level players play to a standard befitting of a relegation threatened side, under two different high profile managers. My issues now primarily lay with the players and the board, the players need to buck their ideas up and the board need to invest in this squad.

He didn't really have a choice but to overplay Kane though did he? We haven't been in many situations where we've been able to take Kane off. Kane was always going to be overplayed whether we liked it or not because Pochettino and Levy allowed for the only other striker to leave this football club.

The best thing we as a club should have probably done is to not send Sterling on loan when we realised Llorente wasn't going to be replaced. He's not amazing but at 21 he's more physically matured than someone of Parrott's age. I personally wouldn't feel confident relying on a 17 year old for Premier League games, it's the toughest league in world football and with respect to Parrott, for as good as he may well become, he'd more than likely look a fish out of water at this level, he hardly set the world alight against Colchester when he got his chance, not sure what fans are really expecting if he comes up against the top tier of English football.

There are plenty of players who are introduced to the first team at his age and younger.

He's being introduced to the Irish international team and we played him in the summer against some top teams. He did very well and looked more Rooney than Tom Carroll.

Is it really beyond the realms of possibility that he could have played some part against Bayern, instead of Wanyama...or in either of the games against 'Boro? I don't think so.

I'm not advocating that he start games but he can come on from the bench, later in games, if we need a specialist in putting the ball in the net...but not if he isn't on there.

It's worth pointing out that Rashford was just over 3 months older when he started playing for Mourinho at United and Liverpool have been introducing Harvey Elliott, who's just 16. Nobody's claiming child abuse over that selection.

Parrot got his PL minutes against Burnley where we were home and dry. To me that suggests that he isn’t ready to be playing the high pressure games and we unfortunately don’t create enough scenarios in which a 17 year old can be thrown in to gain experience instead he’s thrown on to save games? Then when he doesn’t?

Against Bayern...at that stage of Jose’s tenure he was never going to pick Parrott in a situation where we might have got mullered having already got thrashed 7-2 at home...Jose’s pride at stake

As for Parrott playing against Boro...I don’t think Jose is prepared to poo poo the domestic cups like Poch was and there was no real ideal situation to give Parrott minutes again with the tie on a knifes edge all the way through.

Look at Foden at City...still struggling for games even though he has had more perfect scenarios to step into than Parrot on a more regular basis.

All just second guessing on my part but ultimately to me it seems like Parrott is not ready for the pressure of playing for Tottenham Hotspur...yet

I think plenty is a stretch. Yes there are a few but most young players in Europe’s top five leagues aren’t getting sufficient game time until they’re around 19 ish.

Playing for the Irish national team is the equivalent to playing for a club like Reading. It may look good on paper that he’s part of the senior squad but Ireland are by large a very poor national team.

I agree he should’ve played against Bayern, as he should’ve featured against Boro but expecting him to have a Llorente-esque super sub role in the Premier League? I think it’s a bit too far.

If we have no Kane then we should play 433. Son, Lucas and Dele up front and whoever is fit in midfield.
Or 343 with wingbacks. Liverpool only have one striker and he almost never starts
