Until we line up with a central midfield of Alderweireld and Lucas If he does that, we'd be sacking him as much for his own good as we would for what our goal difference would look like after 90 minutes...
I should have bolded and put in italics "if Levy can make it happen", I don't think our two points conflict. Levy may not get his way, I'm not super confident that he will either, but I do believe he will try with full intent to bring Pochettino back ASAP. He knows Mourinho in not long a long term option, he even mentioned Pochettino coming back in his statement.
Will Levy paying Poch off and then taking him back again be cheaper than buying Jose some much needed players (or paying him off) Poch will still need players?
Didn't want jose in the first place his chelski connection and slagging our club off his personality and everything else he brings but for the love of my club was willing to give him a chance .so far he hasn't impressed me at all with his formations and team selection but I'm a spurs fan of decades and have learnt to have patience but I must admit its wearing thin now but do we trust him to deliver for the rest of the season the jury is out
It’s a myth that he spends money 2nd highest ticket prices in World football with the spending nouse of a mid table team as for the stadium..The stadium is useless unless we see big money being spent on the team
As for how long has Jose got....probably as long as it takes him to realise that Levy is the king of false promises
I hear you. We all know he's not king of the big spenders, but I think the stadium has to earn some real money before Levy can spend it though. I think that is part of the point of building it in the first place. No? The wages offered have been rising slowly. To be fair, we only just stopped being a mid table team in relatively recent history, and that may be short lived if we are not careful. I give Levy credit where it is due for making us CL regulars for the past few seasons. If he can make it stick long term, that'll be a big deal. I agree, it will take more spending to do so. Levy spends a fixed percentage of what the club earns. I think that is wise. As the club makes more, he'll spend more.
We're in a bit of a precarious position Re funds at the moment. Yes, the new stadium has more than trebled our match day revenue, but if performances keep up like this for much longer, empty seats will start to appear. And heaven forfend it, but we'll struggle to fill a third of the place for Europa games next season. But the real money these days is in sponsorship and coverage. CL revenue is the only reason we have overtaken Arsenal financially in recent seasons. Without it, their global fanbase keeps them ahead of us. If we miss out on CL funds next year, our balance sheet won't look nearly as healthy. Also, there is still confusion over stadium sponsorship and naming rights. Levy probably held off committing on this, gambling that we'd be on an upward curve this season thus opening a bidding war among potential sponsors, but right now we aren't exactly the most attractive proposition investment wise and so that plan appears to have backfired. As long as it remains shelved, we're missing out on anything from £20-30m per year.
If we do end up in the Europa, then the games need to be priced appropriately. £10 each and £20 family tickets should be the starting point.
Gooner here in peace. IMO Jose was the wrong choice for Spurs (and indeed for Arsenal as was rumoured) as Spurs want to do things the “right way” and bring youth and talent through the ranks and not throw cash around - all of which is the opposite of what Jose does or has done. basically Spurs are a nice club and Jose is a **** who will **** off everyone and leave in 3 seasons or before, and Spurs don’t deserve his tantrums and histrionics
Tbh it made more sense that your usual posts and I wasted much less time reading it...at my age that matters
Cheers .... ****. i did manage to finish the post and was agreeing with you and I’m as old as you, probably
I didn’t have a massive issue like some did with regards to appointing Jose, he weren’t my first choice but I respected his credentials and felt a manager of his rep and calibre was required to replace Poch rather than some up and comer. In my head I felt he’d be able to install a “winners mentality” into these players and after a promising start, it’s just back to the same old **** we were watching under Poch: Stupid tactics Silly selections Reactive more than proactive The players also obviously have to shoulder the blame but the money we’re paying Mourinho, he’s not really done anything that makes me think “yeah, that’s why you pay the big bucks”. As I said in our match thread, when relegation threatened sides who look destined for the chop hire Big Sam, he tends to save them from relegation and earn his dough (and likely bonus for doing so). We’ve hired Jose to get us back in a top four position and ideally win a trophy, we’ve just drawn away to a pretty **** Boro side and in the Prem we’re still being outplayed by sides like Southampton and Norwich just as we were under Poch with Brighton and Sheffield. What’s worse is most of us lot on here can spot the mistakes pre-kick off, if us bunch of oddballs and average joes can spot the problems, why can’t a manager on nearly £300k a week? Weird and frustrating in equal measure. I won't write him off though just yet, he deserves a window or two but if we do indeed miss out on top four as I expect, he’s failed in his short term objective and then it becomes a mountain to climb to regain a top four place.
The other day I said a lot of our issues could be sorted by swapping the Aurier/Lucas pairing down the right flank for Foyth/Lo Celso It appears our manager saw this and decided that he now wanted to see if I had any suggestions for central midfield...
