Because you can’t just put something in a contract and it becomes legal ffs.

Let’s make this easy, do you think Levy can pick any figure he wants and put it in that contract should MP wish to leave for another club?

I’ve no idea what you’re on about. A contract is an agreement between two parties, and in this case almost certainly drawn up under top legal advice. If you willingly sign that contract you can be held to the terms of it.

It’s happened to me and I was told by a lawyer that there was no way out.

What Levy can do is demand that the contract is paid in full. At 4+ years at £8-10 mill p.a. You do the maths.

No manager on the planet is signing something that makes themselves personally liable for £40m.

Pochettino can breach contract and have the case reviewed by tribunal in the event that United employ him and the two clubs can’t agree a package (which is highly unlikely as they’ll usually meet in the middle).

It is then up to Levy to prove that the impact of MP’s resignation has cost the club £40m. If he can prove that then United would be forced to pay £40m... so answer me this, why would United agree to pay £40m before this?

Utd would have to buy the contract out then. Levy won’t care who pays it.

Levy doesn’t have to prove anything. Poch would be in breach of contract.

This could be on the low side depending on his actual compensation package.

No, I haven’t.

I’ve called it speculation, as is the Zidane story. I put that clearly in my post, yet you choose once again to read into it what you want to see, rather than what it actually says.

Yeah fair enough I did a search of 'bollocks' by you and it turns out this is pretty much the only thread you haven't used that word so apologies I dropped a bollock there <laugh>

And of course it's all speculation, it's a forum. I don’t think we need to prefix every post with 'in my opinion...'

Spurs entering a period of uncertainty with spiralling debt and didn’t bring a single player in last summer yet their fans can’t see why their manager would consider leaving for United.

You need to get our resident Lawyer on this mate. Despite not knowing anything about the contract ramifications when Adebayor shafted Spurs, HIAG is an expert in this field.

He would only be personally liable if he walked away. It’s a clause that works both ways, unless Spurs inserted minimum performance clauses into the contract that allowed them to terminate his contract without paying up the full value outstanding should he fail to meet the minimum performance expectations.

It’s been reported his contract value at the end of the season will be £34m, so that’d be Levy’s minimum demand should United approach and he wanted to leave. United would try and negotiate this down, but Levy isn’t known for his flexibility. Ultimately, if United do want him, and he wants the gig, they’ll pay.

I think we’d succesfully negotiate the payment down, because players knowing Poch wanted to leave etc means the rot could set in. Imagine going from +34m to -34m in the space of a few months when you’ve just shat yourself to the tune of £400m with the stadium.

I’d guess the figure would be something in the region of £18-20m

@Hoddle Is A God that bet then? Should we make it.

United get Poch by 1st September 2019 I win.

Spurs keep him after that you win.

Another club gets him bet void.

Your/My avatar for an entire season, no restrictions.

Of course you’re going to wriggle your way out of that because you’re a panting blobweasel.

Of course they are if you’ve written them. You only deal with facts and you’re never wrong.

I didn’t write it mate. Read it for yourself

And I expect the irony of you accusing me of always having to be right has flown way over your head..
