I don't agree with some of them, just purely because they were no-brainers and there were tons of competition for their signatures.
Cech, Shearer, Lampard and Drogba would've all ended up moving in the same window that they did and probably to the Premier League too, so where's the insight there?

Hyypia, Makelele, Vieira, Petit, Zola, Klinsmann and Stam all deserve a mention.

Howard Webb must surely figure, given he's been key to Man Utd's success for many years.

Viera and Ashley Cole over Cech and Lampard. I'd absolutely take Viera over the rest. As for Cole...little as I like him, he's not only been very good, but played a long time, and seems like he would play equally well for anyone. Cech may be the best thing since sliced bread, but I have trouble rating a keeper who playedd in front of a team with a great defense that mostly played negatively. I would have had some clean sheets playing for Chelsea. As for Lampard, well, I just don't like Lampard. Besides that, I think he may need more support to be effective than any other top player. Get Drogba to occupy the center backs, plenty of wide threats, and all he has to do is blast the ball towards the goal and hope it bounces off someone. The truth is he also is a smart player who works hard. But I still don't like him, and still would rather have Cole at the beginning of his career than Lampard at the beginning of his.

As for Alonso: The article says "Reds supporters saw him as a key player alongside Steven Gerrard." Well, maybe, but all the ones I remember were saying, no goals, not too many assists, won't make any difference to lose him...
