First off, what I've done is comment 2 or 3 times on a few posts calling Baz Cooper etc. when imo he was spot on. Secondly, what I was actually posting was that imo it's utterly pathetic seeing 'grown' men stood there shouting ****er and throwing ****er signs at players (even worse when they've got wife's or kids with them), with the added irony of the dogs abuse being on mental health day and following an appeal from the club not to do it. Thirdly, all I'm doing is stating the facts about Connolly.
There's even more added irony that the person you're calling a 'piss head' and a 'druggie' addressed his issues in a warts n all interview on 'World Mental Health Day 2024'....
What ever the deal was, and we will never know the finer details, he first came on trial to prove himself, and I remember reading somewhere where he drove through the night from Brighton to sign for us, then he was offered a very short contract. Up to him getting clobbered against Norwich I thought he was doing ok for us, but that injury certainly set him back. I don't think he let us down too much last season and when he he did play he contributed. My point was that I don't think he deserved the reception he got yesterday. We've have plenty of players who have taken the proverbial out of this club, and managers too, several with all sorts of off field problems that the club kept quiet about, yet I don't recall many getting the cold reception Connolly got yesterday. He looked visibily shocked by it.
-> "Maybe because we were paying him to be a piss head / druggie when he should have been the goalscorer we so desperately needed?" No added irony really as I was talking about when he was with us. Those were the facts. As I've also posted more than once, he's a talented player, I hope he's over his problems and makes the most of his talent (except against us). Btw, I wasn't one of those booing him, I was just giving a possible explanation for why some were. Personally I think it lacks class booing ex-players.
I think it "lacks class" calling someone a piss-head and druggie when he's poured his heart out about his problems on 'World Mental health day 2024'... You're keen to defend a HDM reporter(who waffled a pile of nonsense in a needless article) and a player(who's come out and said absolutely nothing) since being booed at his former Club. You've shown absolutely no consistency with your subsequent comments about Connolly.
Not defending anyone. I simply agreed with what he was saying. That's what he was. Simply the facts. Let's see if he reverts. I hope he doesn't but it doesn't change the facts. If you want to see lack of consistency (and hypocrisy) just look at the MH thread and then some of the comments on various other threads.
Surely you can see that he used drugs and alcohol to cope with his mental health problems? Or are you deliberately ignoring it As youve been caught out ?
I don't see how I've been caught out. I agreed with Baz Cooper about the abuse Kamara got. Apparently several on here think it's perfectly fine for grown men to chant '****er ****er ****er' and throw ****er signs at ex players. I think it's pathetic. I then put forward a likely explanation for why Connolly got booed by so many on Sunday. I didn't boo him. He spoke himself about how he allowed his early success to go to his head and instead of concentrating on doing what he was paid to do, he chose to neglect it in favour of alcohol. Is that mental health or bad choices? I don't know. Anyway, I've had enough of this ****. No good for my mental health.
