We were still playing out from the back, principles goes way beyond how the 11 players on the pitch are in a formation.
If his principles only involve 'playing out from the back' then yes, granted, he did stick to his principles! I think his principles go a bit further than just that. First half was a **** show.

Of course, but we are absolutely down to bare bones in terms of attacking outlets. Delap had an off game, who else is there beyond that at present. That’s the board and Rosenior’s fault for how they built the squad IMO but we’ll solve the issues and I think we’ll see a lot less first half performances like that after January just how we can keep putting points on the board.

He did abandon his principles. Plan A last night was a mess. He could have kept the same shape and tactics, with for example Vinagre and Connolly (or Delap or Vaughan) replacing the wingers, but we were all over the place first 60.

He had 20 minutes of natural attacking pace and width in Vinagre's legs.

He made best use of it.

Plan A involves wingers.

Plan B was what we started with.

Plan C was to change shape at half time.

Plan D was the 3 subs.

And the ace in the hole was Macca on to push Greaves left and stick vinagre on the wing.

Honestly mate I think the problem we had was out wide in a 4231.

He changed shape to effectively a front 2 at the start of the game.

Just think it was a bit much disruption to the usual shape, in essence he gave himself too many problems by overthinking it.

He himself said he got the press wrong in the humberside interview.

But ultimately we adapted and made a purse out of a pigs ear.

Ground one out and that's a very good trait tie be seeing. From boalth coach and squad.

Five points for first choice, three for second, one for third.

Allsop 114
Jones 76
Slater 40
Morton 21
Greaves 11
Delap 6
Vinagre 6
Connolly 4
Tufan 1

Jones and Slater, both back after long layoffs, collected a lot of votes, but the zero to hero was Allsop. Double saves, triple saves and stood up tall when some hapless winger tried to lob him.

Well done Ryan.
