i doubt the top managers do their scouting on MOTD to be honest. but we do need to get him to sign a new contract.

I was just about to say the same thing. All MOTD have done is shown the public and fans of other clubs how good he is and has been all season (and lazy journalists probably, hence all the stories of clubs showing interest in him suddenly appearing)

Unfortunately the home nations signed an agreement with each other to not use 'naturalised' players, as they'd get British nationality, not English. A player has to be English, Scottish, Welsh or N. Irish to play for that national team, but naturalised players only get British nationality. Hence, Mikel Arteta and Jose will never play for England.

I know what everyones saying about the contract situation, but if his contract is left to run and Man Utd sign him for 5 mil in the summer because he only has a year left on his contract don't think any one would be too happy with 5 mil for an incredibly talented player.

Sure this is a signed agreement, and not a gentleman's agreement?

^^ Then I think he's only a year or two away from qualifying. And with Ashley cole being 29, we get to buy England shirts with Enrique on the back :emoticon-0103-cool:

Who cares about a few angry Scots :cheesy:

My understanding was that the likes of Arteta could play for England, we just dont choose them because they arent English and some fans (and Capello) feel it would not be right winning something with foreign players.

Personally I'd rather win a Euro with the help of someone like Arteta than win bugger all with all Englishmen.

Also Jose could play for Spain yet, he's in one of the world's top divisions, in great form and Spain have no outstanding left back past the ageing Capdevila.

OK then let's NOT get him to sign a new contract, that'll ensure he's not sold <doh>

I've said it before, I think he's definitely gone in the summer...

For me the best possible (but realistic) option would be to somehow pull off another Carroll - sign him to a new contract and watch him go in January for mega-bucks!

Very pessimistic I know, but I just have a strong feeling about it!
