MOTD Expert Analysis - Oxymoron?

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by NotSoMightyEastbourneBoro, Sep 25, 2011.

  1. I know that quite a lot of Arsenal fans were against the idea of signing Arteta, but I think he's a quality player and will do well for AFC.

Sorry, but am I missing something here? Do people seriously decide whether to watch MOTD, or not, based on whether they like Hansen & Lawrenson?
Personally, I watch it every week for the highlights of the premiership matches - which I think the BBC edits quite well - picking the "best" bits from even the most mediocre games. I disagree with a lot of what they say, and I agree with some of it. However, those two + Lineker are incidental, as far as I'm concerned. If you can't stand them, then record it, and FFW through their comments.

    I agree, HIAG.
I said before they signed him that he'd be an excellent bridge between Fabregas and Wilshere/Ramsey, but they didn't seem keen, for some reason.
I also suggested that they should pick off about half of Everton's team though, so maybe that's why!

I still think that the likes of Jagielka, Baines and Fellaini would've been better for them than Mertesacker, Santos and, er... nobody, but I guess time will tell.

As an alternative to NSIS' idea, you can always watch the highlights on certain websites... <whistle>

  4. They are irrelevant to me, except that I do sometimes enjoy laughing at Lawro (obviously not with him) <ok>

Much like Thompson on Sky, Hansen and Lawrenson are way too Liverpool biased and it shows in their inept punditry. Most of the other Sky pundits are ok, although Nicholas and Merson talk a fair amount of ****e, Le Tissier is about the best of them.

It must be hard for Thompson, Lawrenson and Hansen having had long careers at Liverpool... they try anything to convince themselves and the fans that Liverpool are still a big club and have a good squad capable of challenging. When most normal fans can see that they are really not that good and have wasted millions on average players.

Thompson is by far the worst.
The only one that comes anywhere near him is Jim Beglin on ITV, who I can't ****ing stand.
    Awful commentator.

Thompson's very funny by accident, though:

It's also interesting to note that we've won all three games that Ledley King's played in this season.
We have a 100% record in the league with him in the team and a 0% record without!
Also true of Parker and Adebayor, I guess.

  8. You are pissing into an ill-wind, Ensil. All you are doing is getting piss all over yourself, mate. It's not that the likes of Little Luke won't listen to you, he can't understand what you are saying.

Come back into the fold and wipe yourself down, lad.

  9. Arsenal have looked good only against inferior sides, teams they would, in the past, have expected to beat hands down. Whenever they come up against decent opposition, they look dreadful.

Why didn't Liverpool test our defence then, Lidls?
They beat Arsenal 2-0 and were absolutely outclassed at WHL.

Arsenal should be a much bigger threat than Wigan or Wolves, but I thought that the Scousers would, too.

I hate that "didn't turn up on the day" excuse.
Did they just have an off day or were Spurs just much, much better than them?
I'd suggest that it's the latter, far more than the former.
Dalglish didn't help them with his team selection and the way that they were set up, but they were outclassed all over the pitch.

Arsenal will be a bigger challenge for us, in my opinion, but people writing Liverpool's performance against us off as a bad day are underplaying it.
We outplayed them pretty handily at Anfield last time towards the end of the season, too.
Their next two fixtures could be very interesting.

Why were none of their players better than average, Lidls?
They've been far better than average in every other game so far.

I'd say they struggled to find anyone to even fit that description on the day, either.

IMO, the game against the Goons will be close - they invariably are, despite whoever is supposedly in the ascendency. Any current form seems to go out the window, and both teams usually raise their game for this local derby. I don't expect there to be more than one goal in it.
