    Agree with U2.

I liked them back in early 80's, but after WAR album thought they became a bunch of pretentious holier than thou w******.
Had tickets to see them in 82, but went to see the legendary Orange Juice instead.

most overrated - the stone roses. second only in the rip off stakes to led zeppelin.

pink floyd are some tedious cockchafers as well right enough ; have you ever heard anyone try to play the blues with less soul in your life?

I wouldn't call myself a Bowie fan although I do own 'best of bowie' on cd...

    I didn't buy that until 2002 so I couldn't possibly be a fan, could I?

I'd be amazed if anyone ever rated this lot but the bellend of a singer within the band certainly did and rated himself highly.

    Anyway, Razorlight.

So **** it actually defies belief.

Surely they'd have to be rated first?

I think they are OK but they are hardly setting the world alight to be called over rated.

    Nirvana.

Pretty much lived off one good song and a suicide.

Cant see how Bowie and the Beatles, probably the two most influencial artists ever in popular music could be deemed over rated though.

My views/experience entirely. U2 are very overrated.

They've made a big thing about the influence of the Ramones. Their last album (free on iTunes) had an ode to Joey. But I just can't hear it/see it in their sound/approach. The Ramones were fun - daft lyrics, catchy tunes, buzzsaw guitars played at breakneck speed, rock'n'roll attitude. Bono couldn't be more of an opposite. The only similarity is that their best work is the early stuff. The Ramones lost their way a bit, but they had set the bar incredibly high.
