It's his work email I think.
So, it's an email account and as such should be able to be accessed by any device with internet access. Not very productive if your email account can only be accessed through one specific computer. Never heard of that. Does Dev work for Mi5 or sommit.

You can only access my work emails through company equipment, and as I neither want nor need a company laptop (I hate the things) I only take one home when I am working from home. I've not worked from home for a while so i don't have one at this time.

It's not MI5 but the info held on some people's devices is sensitive, so the security measures re laptops, tablets and pen drives are quite strict, storage devices have to be encrypted before you can put anything on them.
