The most impressive performance has to be Colin Tizzard’s repeated attempts to convince people that he would make the decision over whether Thistlecrack ran in the ‘King George VI Chase’ or the novice alternative on St Stephen’s Day. He didn’t nor was he ever going to yet for some totally unknown reason seemed to want convince everyone that the decision was his! I’m sure he fooled plenty of people as well. Total contrast to Mr Henderson who in a stable interview prior to Cheltenham stated about where a horse was going to run – ‘I’ve absolutely no idea. The owner will tell me’. Classy and honest. 2 words that sum up the forums favourite trainer and our Champion Elect.
I probably agree with this, although the horse that I take from this season as most looking forward to seeing next season is MIGHT BITE
Speaking of Might Bite, what are the odds of Nicky Henderson training the winner of next year's GN? I thought Might Bite and Whisper both jumped well and could be ready for it next year, if the owners allow it. If he has a better option I'd like to know what it is.
Cocktails At Dawn, of course. Whisper impressed me again on Friday. He’s got that age stat to overcome but I really can not envisage a more likely winner of the 2018 CGC than him. Whisper is getting better and better and better with every run over fences and his record at Cheltenham, unlike so many horses, really is exceptional.
Next season the chasing division looks like it could be in much better shape with Yanworth, Neon Wolf, Finians Oscar, Willoughby Court, Death Duty
