How is buying any property in Hull a 'bargain'? Anyone that lives there that hasn't committed suicide already is an idiot.
In my poor youth I used to watch Spurs at WHL when my home team played 'away' These days I am minted and can afford to go to all of my team's games - home & away - been good this season... just the title to sort out.
I believe you can get a 95% mortgage on a new build these days. Obviously, your salary still needs to be high enough.
Toby For once I will respond to you - I was being ironic. If you look at my profile you'll see the team that I support - that will show you that I have a sense of humour ( I need one to support them ) - I was taking the piss !!
SN23 Mate - call yourself a fan of football - Even I know that your team drew 2-2 yesterday ( poor defending though ) - there was only one Football League team that secured promotion yeaterday... GFC edit - and Coventry have wasted McDonald - still hope he will come to us next season
Didn't the government offer a scheme to help potential home owners during the budget? They'll buy a percentage of the house with you, thus part owning your home....I think

You can't buy a garage in Kensington for that amount of money. As long as you don't mind where you live there are plenty of cheap houses around the country but if Preston isn't your cup of tea you might want to look at other options such as combined rent/buy. Glad I got on the ladder when I did, it is a horror show in London & the South East for first time buyers. Not all doom and gloom though as due to government policy on capping Housing Benefits many are going to have to move out of London to cheaper locations and all those landlords will be short of tenants so you might get somewhere to rent. Hang on a bit longer and you might be able to benefit from another Government initiative whereby they are going to underwrite your mortgage in order to encourage banks and lenders to give you a mortgage. Nice isn't it? Move people away from areas they have lived in for their entire lives and give taxpayers money to people who want to buy a house and use my money to bail out banks who caused the **** we are in if another raft of sub-prime borrowers default and have their homes re-possessed.
average 1 bed flat/house around here is about £130,000 - £140,000, im ****ed. have to save about £50k. i'll still be at home when im 40.
