Morning All,
Isn't it good to see that Leeds are investing in their future!
No, I'm not talking about buying back ER, I'm talking about investing in young talent, which can be nurtured and maulded into something special.
Last week we heard that we handed a six month contract to ex Southampton winger Ariyibi who can play on either wing, and has blistering pace.
Yesterday we handed a debut to highly-rated former Peterborough striker Shaquille McDonald. McDonald, though only 17 is heavily tipped to be the next big thing, and a prolific goal scorer, but a horrific fight involving a baseball bat was enough for the Posh to wash their hands of him.
Do we want players like that at ER?
Do players deserve a second chance?
If we don't snap him up, some other club will! Let me give you some examples :-
Lee Bowyer. Although found innocent of assault, there was was in it for Leeds to hand him a maximum club fine. Bowyer refused to play ball. Leeds did the right thing, and West Ham got themselves a gem at just £500,000.
He was at least a 5m pound player.
Look at Cantona. Misbehaving off the pitch (playing away supposedly with the wife of a Leeds Utd player), thought he was bigger then the club.
Wilko did the right thing, he did not want a player like that to represent Leeds Utd.
Manure didn't mind, and he single handedly won them eight of so Prem titles in a row.
Even when he showed his true colours on the pitch, like the time he kung fu kicked a Palace fan in the stands, they still stood by him.
WHY?
Not because he was a great guy, and had just made a mistake, because he was worth so much to them as a player. Morals didn't come into it.
The question today :- When players like McDonald become available, do we want them?
If Aaron Crawley was a decent footballer ...........

I'll judge them by the time spent at Leeds. Example-Diouf has been the model pro where Hall seemed to carry the attitude on rather than snapping up a chance of turning his career around.
