Yay, though some of us have to work tomorrow....

Noel Hunt may become a Leeds Utd player today, and McDermott has claimed he is 'inches away' from securing another signing.

Noel Hunt 30, was a target for Championship minnows Millwall, but new Manager Lomas was reported as saying 'We have never beeen able to compete with the mighty Leeds at any level'. 'As soon as I knew Leeds were interested I withdrew my offer and have sent my scouts to the local bars and clubs to try and encourage Saturday morning league players to join us' <yikes>

How do we potentially see the starting XI, come September?

Who has renewed their season tickets for the new season? Who is going to stay away?
 
Morning Elland. Love the wall minnows comment. Imagine it wont be long till theres a reaction from their entire fan base of four ow whatever. Ill have a smile on my face all weekend cos I'm off to Slane tomorrow to Bon Jovi for a family day out.
I wonder how can Mc D be inches away from another signing. Does he mean they are sitting just inches apart or is the pen just inches from the contract.
Speaking of pens, I wonder did Ken keep the ones we sent him as momentoes or sell them

I heard that Norwich have had a 7m offer accepted for Charlie Austin.

Two questions here.

i) How did we not extract a 7m offer from any of our players

ii) Do we take Becchio back?
 
Morning all ... clearly the next signing is thinking about it, and he has the contract inches in front of him. Oh well. Harte for me was just brilliant from the spot, very reliable. Best pen for me (non Leeds) was Czechoslovakia against West Germany in Euro 76, first ever casual chip down the middle, took a lot of guts in a major final.
 
Elland, clearly Harvey is just plain rubbish at negotiating. I think he gets desperate and then makes poor decisions just to get the deal done. And its not just transfers that are a concern ... how on earth did he sanction a clause in Brown's contract allowing him an extension at 36???? That was just plain careless!!
 
Becchio was a brilliant penaly taker (don't think he missed one did he?) although I ****e myself everytime he stepped up.

I will be going next season I just can't help myself

It doesn't help Harveys position much when every club knows we've been skint for the past ten years and desperate for cash. Plus, a lot of the players we talk about getting poor money for were average anyway. Exceptions being Max and Snoddy and were were at our most desperate for money then. You need owners to get the message out, we don't need to sell, in fact we have say 10m to spend. Cant see that happening though. Wonder what the reaction will be if we only get 4 million or less for Byram like we got 200k for Becchio
 
Morning all. Not sure what Hunt will actually bring to the party. Assuming Ross will start everytime he's fit, that gives us any 1 plus 1 for the bench from Smith, Varney, Poleon, Diouff & possibly Hunt.

Billy, in answer to your question, Brown is very fit and can still do a job at the ripe old age of 36. He won't necessarily start every game, but he will be a good player to have off the bench.

On penalties, the best I ever saw was someone whose name I've forgotton who used his wrong foot (i.e. curled his other foot round his prpoer foot to hit the ball).

Yep, Seaman saved it with his legs as Macca hit it straight down the middle from memory, we then went straight down the other end and made it 2-0 with the famous Gazza dentist chair celebration afterwards. <ok>

Spain will retain the U21 euro title as they rule the world at every level but I'm hardly sticking my neck on the block! <laugh>

Sure a dago did the same thing in the last U21 euros from memory? <ok>
 
The best Leeds penalty taker I have seen is deffo Harte but not saying that was the best we've ever had.

I reckon away from Leeds Matt Le Tissier was one of the best ones I can think of. Messi's is almost unrivalled in the modern game as well
