Let's just see where we are come May. Warnock was hired allegedly for 1 season to get us into the PL. We're 2 pts off 6th. A win would have seen us 5th. We should see a bit of strengthening in January. And we have Somma back, albeit a distance off being fully fit. Wouldn't bet against Somma & McCormack starting on Saturday with Becchio & Diouf coming off the bench at half time. We would now appear to finally have a left footed LB (about 'kin time in my book). In short, I think we're in for a good, if possibly slightly bumpy ride from ow until May. I also think we'll do it, albeit it possibly not until the final day. Keep the faith one & all. MOT
Watch Peltier return to that position once fit again and watch McCormack start on the bench, for some reason he isn't that liked by Warnock IMHO
I've just had a chat with Neil and it seems he's been trying the whole team out of position to see how we do, and get the bookies odds pushed out. He now says that for the rest of the season, the boys will be playing in their proper positions and it should scare the bejesus out of Hull and anyone else who fancies a go all except Ross who starts in goal on Saturday
Cheers Doc. A little levity. So much better than the constant Whinging, Whining, & Wumming available on another site.
Hall signs - http://www.leedsunited.com/news/20121227/january-signing-number-one_2247585_3020028 All we need now is for him to actually play & give us width on the right.
Problem is, Warnock (and myself tbh!) likes Green on the right. Think he's done a really good job there
Agreed Kiwi. But Hall gives us much more of an attacking option. Useful as a 2nd half sub, or if Green can't play for some reason or other.
Leeds United have agreed a deal to make Southend loanee Ryan Hall their first permanent signing since being taken over by GFH Capital on Friday. Hall, 24, joined the Championship club on loan in October and will join the club on a two-and-a-half-year deal when the transfer window opens on Tuesday. The two sides have agreed an undisclosed fee for the winger
Yeah i think it's worked well and it gives Byram more protection allowing him the freedom to go forward. Green also offers us a threat as can be shown from his goals in recent weeks. You go back to the League One days and in a 442 we used to play just one natural winger (usually Snodgrass) and at LM we had Johnson, ensuring we weren't outnumbered in the middle of the pitch.
Diouf should be nowhere near the starting 11. Not that I don't rate him, but he's clearly absolutely knackered. When compared to a constantly improving and raring to go McCormack, it's no contest. McCormack should be the first name on the team sheet at the moment, Diouf needs a couple of games rest.
Wouldn't say McCormack should be the first name on the team sheet, but Diouf does need a rest, and McCormack and Somma did show little glimpses of being a good potential partnership. We'll see
Completely agree. I think if we play 4-4-2 we need to have one of the wide midfielders adding more defensive steel. Plus Green can slot inside when we have the play and Diouf and Byram provide the width down that side when we need it. Hall and Thomas would be better used in the same side if we were playing with one up top (Becchio), with two midfielders sitting deep and one playing off of Becchio.
I thought diouf was our best player against forest and should not have been taken off.At least he tried to link up the play the ball on the deck.Austin was clearly not match fit and Brown seemed to forget he was on the pitch to break up the play not the opposing players!
