The reason no transfers have been done has f all to do with no funds. Mick Jones has stated the new owners are backing them and that we are being competitive with wages. The Tonge deal and others can be held up for numerous reasons,player valuation,players terms etc. He also said one deal required the club in question to get a player in before releasing the one we wanted. So please stop all this silly we're skint carp as its frankly boring.

I really, really hope that is is crap, TB, but the board have had ample time to show good faith & have failed dramatically. Let's just concentrate on Tongue for a minute. Why on earth would this deal be held up? They've had months to negotiate terms - fees, contracts etc. In fact, as he was a 'try before you buy' loan, this should most certainly have been arranged in principle before the loan commenced (otherwise why 'try before you buy' if you find you can't afford him at buying time???). Do they want to hold him until they get a replacement in? Do the fcuk! He's surplus to requirements & everyone knows it! There is no reasonable reason for this particular transfer not to go ahead. Unless, as I said earlier, it's a deliberate delay, or sheer incompetence. He should have signed on Jan 1st. He didn't. Problem. Indeed, might be a sniff of a big problem! Btw, as a footnote, Bates always maintained that he supported his managers and was competitive with wages. Only it came to pass that it was only him that had that view! The same words from the new board. Hope it means something different this time, but after what I've endured in the Bates years, I reserve the right to be cynical until I see proof of action.
