Aidy White can choose what he wants to do - he is out of contract - and if a Prem club comes in, he will be off at a flash. LUFC has no control over where he goes nor the price another club would have to pay as compensation. He is aware that the club has not shown any ambition also - but he is the only player we have who has any pace.

If White goes, I predict so will Snoddy.

The new rules on academies also set a mechnism for working out the compensation for players under 23. It was very low - don't expect more than £250k

I still don't think White deserves all this attention or concern that's being generated on this board. Yes, he's fast, but he's little else. He's failed to deliver time after time. He's certainly got potential, but in what position, and have we got the time to give him to develop whilst we're pursuing promotion. Actually, has he got the patience to stay with us whilst he develops, or is he arrogant enough to assume he's the finished article? Who knows. Exciting summer indeed.

White's speed is what makes him such an impact player, along with his stamina. Beckford was the same - mainly speed - and he never came onto the scene until he was 23 or 24.

White has been our best defender this season, bar none, yet all wanted to play him as a midfielder because of the speed he provides and as a replacement of Gradel. That has held us back - White is a left back.

If they'd left him there and concentrated on getting a good player in for the midfield berth, we could have had a chance.

Warnock was as culpable as Grayson in this respect.

Think we'll need to agree to disagree on this one. I think he's presently a poor defender, albeit one with future potential. I'm just not sure that we can take the chance to let him develop whilst he's playing in a promotion chase. He's not consistent enough for us, IMO, but I'll go with NW's decision, whatever it is. I do agree that he's no midfielder. He runs like hell, but can't cross, go past anyone, shoot, head, pass etc. But then, that used to be a criticism of Walcott!!

It's also interesting to remember that Ian Harte was a striker in his early days, & Harry Kewel a left back! So who knows what the future holds for White?

I don't see white as a defender and I don't think he has been our best defender either. He's quite weak in a tackle and isn't all that good in possession going forward, fast but nothing else whatsoever really and that doesn't make a good footballer otherwise we'd offer Usain Bolt a contract. Me and you really really differ on our opinions of the team, don't think I have ever met someone who has completely different opinions on almost every position before

White's only issue as a defender is that he occasionally gets his positioning and marking a bit wrong. Other than that, I've never seen a winger get round him because he's too quick and his tackling is astounding, he's also surprisingly strong for such a little guy.

Hmmm, think the jury's out on that one, Marko. I honestly believe that White's shortcomings as a left back exposed O'Dea to our ridicule, as he often ended up covering two positions.

O'dear wasn't really covering 2 positions though because Lees was covering O'Dear's position who was covering White's position. The whole defense just doesn't match each other

White has potential there. I just think his defensive intelligence lets him down because he never gets skinned and rarely gets muscled away.
