Leeds United fans set up crowd funding page to reimburse Norwegian supporters

Leeds United fans are attempting to raise £5,000 to reimburse Norwegian supporters left out of pocket by a fixture re-arrangement.
This Monday's 0-0 draw at Elland Road against Middlesbrough was originally scheduled for the Saturday beforehand, only to be moved for television coverage.

As a result, loyal Leeds supporters from Norway who had arranged flights and booked hotels in advance were left facing further costs if they were to continue with their plans to attend.
ITV reported in January that up to 95 supporters from the Scandinavian country had booked and bought tickets ahead of the re-arrangement.
Now a page has been set up to attempt to reimburse the fans by fellow supporters, asking each to chip in with a small amount.
    ">

The crowd funding Just Giving page is aiming to reach £5,000 to cover the costs, and after launching earlier today is already into triple figures in donations.
The message on the page states as it's mission statement: "Reimbursing a group of out of pocket Norwegian fans who couldn't rearrange their trip after Sky Sports changed the date with very little notice.

"The fans don't deserve to be out of pocket. Unlikely that either Sky Sports or the club will do the honorable thing and reimburse them. All the funds raised will be transferred directly to the Norweigen [sic] Leeds fans. Reimbursing the individuals who spent money on flights and hotels and didn't get to see the game."
The Yorkshire Evening Post claimed this week that Leeds were given the chance to re-arrange the match to an eaelt Saturday kick-off, but rejected this idea, resulting in the Monday night slot being allocated

Berardi back in full training and is a possiblty for Watford.

Be interesting to see if Coyle gets some game time as he has featured in the past two rounds <ok>

No worries mate <ok> you well? I was down Southsea the other day, ended up on a bit of pub crawl. I know its the no go area for you southampton lads, but its vastly improved! Last time I went it was a right **** hole but I was impressed. And drunk.

    Spotted that myself, Bucks.
I'd prefer Coyle to Berardi, myself. Berardi can't be ready for a full blown game yet, surely? If so, I would have expected him to turn out for the u21s on Monday there to break him in. Be good to give Coyle game time. I suspect he'll start to give more of an attacking option down the right. Wootton is defensively good, but lacking pace, dynamism & technical nous going forward.

I'd go with Coyle as well. Big decision though against a prem club but could be just what the lad needs <ok>

Got a damn cold, and I had bad asthma. Damn frustrating and a little scary at times but apart from that ok.
Bit disappointed by the amount of times lately that I / we have not been able to log on. I will see if I can get an update later.

Pompey, yea, a no go even for a Leeds fan living in Southampton.

Yes, I think I've read on here that they won't put any money in but expect others to invest and take the risk, while they sit back in the hope of cashing in from any promotion.

Evans had a bit of swipe at Redfearn's comments of who he'd planned to sign at Leeds (Barton, Adam etc): "We can all pass on wish lists."

Yes, continued smoke and mirrors around club finances. If things were all above board in the way we are reducing costs and restructuring loans etc, surely someone from the club would come out with an open an honest appraisal of our situation and where we were headed.

Being open and honest to the fans could cut out all the negativity and set everyone's expectations for the year ahead. As it is, we all drift along through a few highs and lots of low points. We're now all saying lets see what happens in the summer etc. We've done that for a few seasons now, only to be let down. If the club won't communicate honestly and set our expectations, then I'm going to set my own deadline. Investment and good players in by end July before the season starts, or I'll not be following the club next season.

Sure I also remember something about a payout if Leeds won promotion before a certain year - something linked back to Bates? Maybe this is delaying a real push. Who knows.

Evening all. Love the "Oust the house" saying. While the lead weight of GFH is around our necks we will always struggle I fear.

GFH are no doubt a cancer in our club. I strongly suspect, and their previous behaviour supports this, that they have an assortment of agreements in place with Cellino that prevent investment by him & most certainly disallow the transparency we call for, as quite simply, it would expose them for what they are. I think the key to our salvation with them might actually be David Haigh, if someone had the brains to consult him. He knows where all the bodies are buried, and has documentation to support this.

The Norwegian fans donated all that was raised for them to Moody's family. Best fans in the world and then current establishment don't deserve us! They should be embarrassed they didn't put there hand in there pocket!

Very noble of them, but tbh, I'm a little surprised that they didn't ask those of us who donated first. I'm sure we'd all have agreed happily, but it's just not cricket to be so presumptious, old boy!

Actually, if truth be told, I only half-read it & the word crowdfunding jumped out at me - I thought they were donating it to the anti-Cellino crowdfunding & threw a mini paddy. :D

<laugh> I'm sure the people who donated won't mind, but valid point regardless of the mini paddy (no shaks jokes glory) <grr>
