I'm worried about the noises Warnock's making, but all official sources are saying there haven't been any bids yet.
Becchio casts doubt himself ... Liam Kent ‏@FootieLiam When asked if [Becchio] wanted to stay at Elland Road, he added: "We'll see. I can't tell you anything other than that"!
Why would Becchio go to a tiny little club like Wigan who may well find themselves in the championship next season or soon thereafter, playing in front 10k or similiar?
Jock, Wigan can't be making that much money. They have tiny crowds & are just currently managing to punch above their weight. Their current manager will eventually be snapped up by a bigger club & they will eventually return to the lower leagues. Put another way, how much are they paying their top players now that we couldn't more than match when we get to the PL?
Cant expect players to wait around for us to get to the PL. Becchio is 29 and could be long retired by the time we get there. Suspect he may use Wigan as a stepping stone to greater things if he improves enough with them
Thats Warnocks problem not Becchios! We used to play football with Becchio in our team prior to Warnock Everyone can see hoofing it to Becchio doesnt work but his return this season has still been excellent. PLAY FOOTBALL WITH BECCHIO IN THE TEAM, it will work!
Bucks Becchio can't drop short for the ball and lay it off he stumbles n ends up slowing down attacks and passes it to defenders. Hes better when we play football n pass it to wingers who ping it in to box to him but with 2 footballing strikers we will get more success Imo
I'm with Bucks. If Warnock can't see that Becchio is quite small & that hoofing it up to him does not help anyone, we should send him to Specsavers PDQ. That Becchio has so far got 15 16 goals this season, even if you accept a chunk of those are penalties, shows his worth to the team. When he's not causing trouble for the opposition in their penalty box, he's helping out our defence in ours. He's worth his weight in gold & we'd be mad to let him go. I'm also not entirely convinced our league season is over yet. Last night showed what we can achieve when we keep the ball on the floor. Let's hope Warnock & the rest of the team realise that & play accordingly against Brizzle on Saturday & for the rest of the season.
I like Becchio and agree Warnocks tactics are wrong but he's very average on the ball, great goalscorer, shocking defending how hes not given away more penalties than he has this season ill never know
I've always insisted that Becchio's better when we play on the floor (even look at Huddersfield this season), all Warnock needs to do is tell his players not to hoof the ball.
He maybe adverage on the ball, but hes the same in the air if hes against a much bigger defender. Use the wings and let him attack the ball! I agree on his first touch, but what exactlly are we getting out of him losing 50% of his ariel battles and the ones he does win doesnt usually make us a chance. Ball into the box>> Becchio in the box>> GOAL!
Luciano has been a good player for the club. He created a lot of goals for Beckford, and he's weighed in with a lot of goals himself, especially this season. he does however have plenty of faults like easy to fall over, lack of control, not really a target man and can slow down play and his passing can be shyte. So lets be honest and put your 1,2 3 in proper order, for similar type players who are real centre forwards. 1. Lambert 2. Holt 3. Becchio Becchio can only hope to be as good as the other 2 as they can be real handfulls and battering rams, but also show a deft touch.
Doc If he was perfect he wouldn't be with us so suppose I should just be happy that hes a top guy loves Leeds and he's scoring goals and I would much rather swap Warnock for a manager whos more capable of building Becchios game rather than letting Becchio leave
YBK one thing that Warnock said last season, which has come true, is that becchio is a better player than he thinks, and he was going to make him his first choice striker, and make sure he scored more goals. Well its probably the only thing Warnock has got right ..... maybe Luciano is the icing on the cake player we were promised
rare to see some constructive debate on becchio... normally its 'he's a goalscoring legend' or 'he's a donkey'. Truth is he's a goalscoring donkey. He definitely has a great eye for goal, that's uncoachable. Unfortunately, his all round game slows down or breaks up attacks and gives posession away. The theory that take him out of the team and the goals will dry up, depends on whether or not you believe that the greater posession we have without him, will lead to more chances for others and less possession for the opposition. Clearly he's not helped by the hoofball, but he doesn't hold it up too well on the ground either. I'm in the minority who feels we should take the money and run if the money offered is good enough, but as others have said, if you deliver decent balls into the box for him, he will score. He's done great to feed off the scraps this year, but i feel he'd have more scraps if his all round game was better, regardless of the dirge we're playing. Agree with doc that you'd take holt or lambert any day over him and I'd be more disappointed in us selling mccormack, who has quality and will score goals if he gets a run.
Interesting, when we had Beckford, he was slammed for being lazy and bad for tteam etc. Now most want him back. Becchio same. Guarantee he'll be replaced by someone not as good and that will be a backward step
that's the thing though eire, i said i'd take the sale if the money was good... i should have added the proviso that it presume's it's spent on a good replacement rather than debt management - something which clearly hasn't happened in the past
