I think the "REAL" might have been alluding to something else (say it in a Spanish accent and the penny might drop) £18 for a full back sounds like amazing business....but this is LFC. The only thing you can buy round her for 18 quid are the locals houses and a Neverton half season ticket
And I think you're about to blow that on Ol' Man Barrys wages I've given up expecting anything with players these days mate tbh. Real have already made a fortune from merchandising from the CL win so their FFP figures will now fall into line (****ing hilarious really), guess this means they'll make at least one major signing in the summer and after last season why wouldn't they be interested in Suarez? Probably an argument for another thread but I can't be arsed worrying about **** like that anymore....it'd drive ya ****ing nuts every transfer window
Aye, you never know what's going to happen, with players ego's, greedy agents, desperate managers etc etc all in the mix. Modern football I suppose mate.
I think calling can and Moreno as squad players is a bit premature at the prices they have to be first team players Both have more experience than coutinho when signed
People are still stuck in the "First XI vs the rest" mindset. Its a squad game and these players give us more / better options.
Objection your honour....Sakh O **** started when he "should" have been a bench player....objection sustained #nonsense
When we signed him for that amount, the same argument that he must be a starter was thrust upon us. We have a very good left back at the club already (when fit) so Moreno being a first teamer is not a formality.
If you're paying £18m for a full back, he's got to be better than what you've already got in your squad ffs. As paying that sort of dosh for a 'squad' player would be a nonsense.
You would hope that any signing improves the squad, expensive or not. However, the comment you quoted was aimed more at the criticism of the Lambert and Can signing than the Moreno one (assuming the latter two happen), more for Liverpool posters too rather than opposition fans looking to pick fault
He's 21. In theory if (and I know it's a big if) he stays and performs for another 10 years then it would have been money well spent on a long term player.
Yes but I do expect Moreno if bought to line up as first choice. In the end the ideal 11 IMO still exists in every managers mind but it is a squad game so 6/7 lads are usually first down on the team list and changes made round them SAS, Gerrard, Skertl, mingolet last year... Lcb, lb and such were big issues as nobody took them on
Guys this is 2014. Madrid spent 80 mil on a full back The prem is awash in cash, don't believe the poor mouthing of tobes they have ready cash! We spent our cl bounty that's all. If shaw is 30 mil, why complain about getting a player who looks to be quite good and if we sell on should return the money provided of course he performs There's value in both can and Moreno on resale alone not counting what they do offer us on the pitch Conversely at 25 mil lallana doesn't offer that which is why Shaqiri interests me more
