I think Lockyer being made captain was a big statement from DC about next season. The experience of Lines, Mildenhall and maybe Lawrence, I would have guessed they would have been made captain today as the captain and vice captain wasnt involved. Lines has been captain when McChrystal and Mansell have not involved before. So why Lockyer and not the these 3? Well, I think that Lines, Mildenhall and Lawrence will be gone in the summer regarless what division we will be in. I also think Mansell and McChrystal will be gone too. Just my opinion. This means we will need a captain for nest season. Lockyer, if he stays with us himself, I feel will be DC's number 1 choice to be our captain next season. This decision from DC today, to me, suggests this. Yes im putting 2 and 2 together but it kind of makes sense. The fact that he is young and came through our youth ranks will also make Wael Al-Qadi very happy as well. Also I think this gives Lockyer something very important to think about. He could join Bournemouth (where he has had interest from) and sit on their bench if that! Or stay with us, keep improving and be the club captain! If I am correct about this, then great work DC. It gives Lockyer a taste of what to come.
Watching the highlights.... 1) Parkes was stupid to put his arm out. It does look like the ball hit his arm below the shoulder so to me, it was the right decision. 2) The wind for Leadbitters crosses look very funny and made the keeper look dumb for our 1st goal! We needed that luck as we didnt look like scoring. 3) I thought it should have been a free kick to them with that collision in the box before Bodin scored. Lots around me were calling for a penalty but I thought it looked more like a free kick to them. Im surprised the ref didnt give something either way. Thankfully, he didnt! 4) I missed the red card incident. I was told after that it was an elbow. But the guy tugged back Sinclairs hair. Disgusting! And how he tried to plead not guilty to the ref after the red card was given is pathetic.
I don't normally find the referees asst. particularly good at the Mem but the one on Saturday made me laugh. During the first half Devitt I think his was had hold of browns arm and was definitely not letting go in a hurry. when Devitt complained about the free kick the asst ref said well don't pull his arm then
